What you'll do

This leisurely paddle will take us back to the time of colonists settling in the town of Charleston, SC. We will kayak along the rice fields and pretend we are in ships starting the new settlement in America. The uniqueness of this trip does not end with the history, this is the only place in Charleston you can travel back to the days of the Megalodon. We will search for fossils and sharks teeth and you will leave with the love I feel for this city and a fossilized sharks tooth in you hand!

Meet your host, Merrill

Host on Airbnb since 2020
  • Identity verified
I have 30 years of experience doing tours all across America. I have a degree in recreation and I am certified as a kayak instructor, boat captain, lifeguard and swim instructor. In the past 5 years my love of history and water have driven me to focus and study the Ashley River and all the history it holds. No one else in Charleston can bring the history of the Ashley River back to life like I can.

Where you'll be

People drive by this location daily not even knowing the history around them and the sharks teeth beneath their feet. This location is a hidden treasure with history, water, and beach all wrapped up in one. I am the only company doing a tour of this river.
