What you'll do

Everyone has heard of The Jurassic Coast but my tours will enable you to explore, enjoy and understand this wonderful stretch of coastline.

Visit remote beaches and sheer cliffs, find fossils, walk in the footsteps of giant dinosaurs, learn about the fantastic geological story told by the landscape, spot an abundance of wildlife and hear stories of smugglers, pirates and shipwrecks.

My tours will take you to a variety of places depending on group size, weather and time of year. Some tours include the iconic sites of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door whereas others visit the abandoned village of Tyneham, the ancient hill fort of Flowers Barrow, world famous Kimmeridge Bay or little known Chapmans Pool.

Regardless of the route I guarantee plenty of stunning views and countless wonderful photo opportunities.

I always include a lunch stop at a local pub or cafe in these tours and I can adapt tours to suit individual interests and abilities.

Tours will start and finish either at Lulworth Cove or in the villages of Kimmeridge or Worth Matravers, near Swanage. Public transport is variable in this area so please check that you have a suitable means of getting to the starting point before booking.

I run my tours all year round and will always consider scheduling a tour for a private group or to run a tour on your chosen dates if required, just get in touch!
Other things to note
You will need to take appropriate clothing and footwear for the planned walk. A drink is a good idea, and also a camera. Many local pubs don't take cards or cheque so cash is also required for lunch.

Hello! I am Barry Cullimore and I have lived on and taught about the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site for the past 24 years. I am a qualified teacher and outdoor education professional with a degree in Geology and Geography. I hold the UK Summer Mountain Leader Award and am trained in outdoor first aid.

I have walked and run along the full 93 miles of the World Heritage Site on numerous occasions; in my opinion it is the most beautiful part of coastline in the UK.

I can help you get the most from your time in Dorset and look forward to joining you in exploring the Jurassic Coast soon.

Where you'll be

There are so many wonderful places to visit on The Jurassic Coast, it's hard to know where to start.
Some of the best are very close to my home near the villages of Worth Matravers and Kimmeridge.
Alternatively the famous sites of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door can be included in a tour that explores the cliff-top paths, unique fossil forest and the more remote bays and beaches of this very popular area.

A brilliant introduction to the Jurassic Coast! We really enjoyed our day with Barry. We went off the beaten track to parts that we probably would never have seen/found on our own. Definitely inspired to return to this area!

Barry was absolutely superb; a wonderfully friendly, knowledgeable of the geography and fossils in the area. He was thankfully adaptable as the weather wasnt so helpful, but the views were breathtaking and he even found for us some beautiful fossilised wood. we are determined to be back and will meet Barry again next year for sure!

We had a wonderful day in fantastic surroundings. Barry tailored the day taking in our wishes. Barry took time to make sure the descent down to the bay was safe and within our walking capabilities. Interesting information delivered at a good pace. We both appreciated taking a route that was away from the crowds.

Me and my bestie loved exploring the Jurassic coast! Weather wasn’t the best as it was super windy but that only made it more special in a way. Barry knows so much and has a true passion for it. Totally recommend it to anyone that wants to see beautiful views while learning about it. Good for the soul.

Barry had a real challenge with this walk, the weather was out in full force, the wind was incredible with gusts of horizontal rain thrown in! Despite these conditions we still had a great day out, and this was thanks to Barry! We saw some beautiful sights, Barry shared his enthusiasm for geology and some fun local stories and we learned a lot. Barry constantly checked in with us, making sure we hadn’t blown away, and ensuring our safety and well-being. If we hadn’t booked this experience, we would have wasted a day moaning about the weather, as it is we had an adventure we won’t forget! Thanks so much Barry

Great walk with a knowledgable and interesting guide. Barry took us to some out of the way places and told us about the geology and history of the area. Fantastic trip highly recommended.
