What you'll do

This is our "Hidden gems" tour where we will show our own favorite spots, which are off the beaten track from the standard path. Expect to get an introduction to areas we think are cool, local, and where you get a great a sense of what the life in Copenhagen is all about. We will either take a southern route or Northern route depending on what is going on in the harbor at your specific departure day.

The harbor in Copenhagen is undergoing rapid change, from an industrial harbor to recreational space open to everyone living in the city. During the summer months it acts as the main nerve binding the city together and attracting numerous water-based activities in the process. You will see how this is folds out with Kayaks passing by and happy Danes jumping into the water. We will point out our favorite places and hidden gems, whether you are looking a place for having an afternoon beer in the sun, a relaxed morning coffee, or simply and area to relax away from it all.

As we explore the upcoming areas away from the inner part of the city you will see how former industrial buildings are being transformed into new spaces and how Copenhagen is evolving as a city.
Other things to note
Please be ready 10 min before

We have a convertible roof for our boats we use for rainy and cold days, but nevertheless dress according to the weather.

My name is Joel and I am the founder of Hey Captain. We are a small company focusing on doing personal tours. I have been sailing the canals of Copenhagen with my friends since I can remember and it is this atmosphere we would like to pass on to you. I am a former management consultant, but decided that there was more to life than powerpoint. :) It will be me or one of my fellow captains that will show you our favorite spots in the harbor. Trust me when I say there is no better way of exploring Copenhagen than from the water side. If you do book, please be ready 10 min before departure.

Where you'll be

We will depart from Ofelia Plads, which is downtown Copenhagen where many of the classic attractions are. As this is our hidden gems, we will not be focusing on the known landmarks, but instead try to give you a feel for the local life and our own favorites.

Really a beautiful and great way to get a grasp of the city! You get to see all the beautiful architecture and canals all while learning about the neighborhoods and history. We took the trip on our first day and it’s been fun to know the different landmarks we saw and feel more comfortable navigating. Our tour guide was a kind and down to earth and also a pro at navigating the wind!

We booked a private tour and it was fabulous! Sindre was our guide, and he was perfect! If you are visiting Copenhagen, this tour is a must-do! It was a brisk day at the end of November, but the boat was covered and the warm drinks (gløgg) was the perfect complement to our excursion.

We had a truly excellent time. Our guide was able to share so many different aspects of life in Copenhagen. A good mix of classic history, architecture and a bird’s eye view of the local experience. There were warming beverages available onboard and they even made sure to have me borrow a coat to stay warm.

Enjoyable tour. It was beautiful exploring and we were able to see a lot of nooks and crannies of Copenhagen. Plus the Grogg onboard was delightful!

We had a great afternoon on the water with Hey Captain. We loved seeing the more unique sites in Copenhagen. The drinks served onboard were great! It felt very festive! We loved getting off at the fort for a look around there too. Recommend for everyone visiting Copenhagen!

The Hidden Gems tour was wonderful, the captain was great and told us a lot of stories & facts about the harbor. The visit to the fort was very interesting & great for taking pictures. I would definitely recommend the Hey Captain tours !
