What you'll do

Discover Argyle & Andersonville, two of Chicago's best neighborhoods, on one tour! Enjoy foods from Vietnam, the Middle East and Sweden as you learn the immigration history of these interesting areas.

- Experience Asia on Argyle. Chicago's 'other' Chinatown is now home to the city's Southeast Asian community.

- Get a hands-on lesson in making Vietnamese summer rolls.

- Stumble on a forgotten silent film studio and hear why Hollywood's biggest star turned his back on Chicago.

- Toast with the Vikings as you sip Swedish glögg in a haunted former speakeasy.

- Celebrate Andersonville's Lebanese and Persian cultures with a guided Middle Eastern spice tasting.

- Taste the apple pie that made Food & Wine's list of Best in America.

- This lunchtime tour is close to Wrigley Field and makes a great activity before Cubs night games.

SPECIAL DIET NEEDS? I will communicate before the tour to provide alternate tasting items as appropriate to. your diet concerns.

Chicago is the food city I was looking for. I moved here more than 20 years ago for a corporate job that I soon ditched for culinary school. After years of teaching cooking classes and running one of the city's busiest gourmet delis, I wanted to reconnect with what I love about Chicago...it's vibrant neighborhoods and deep cultural food roots. Our downtown is stunning, but so much of what makes Chicago great lies beyond the Loop. Let me show you around.

I learned a lot about a neighborhood that I thought I already knew something about, the stories and the tastes of culture were great. It was a lot of fun.

As a local resident of Chicago, I was looking for something different for my friend’s birthday. Phyllis’s food tour did not disappoint! We got to know the neighborhood history and visit places that we either didn’t know, or we got to see familiar places in a new way. This was really fun and unique. I would recommend it for locals as well as out of town visitors. Phyllis’s tour is awesome!
