What you'll do

We'll start by boarding a Catalina 34 sail boat in Sausalito and get a briefing about the Oyster cooking voyage. We'll quickly cast off from the dock and head to a protected anchorage on the San Francisco Bay with stunning views where we'll drop anchor. Once we're securely anchored we'll commence the oyster cooking class. You'll first learn some history about local Tomales Bay Oysters that we'll be using for the experience. We'll then move into proper and safe shucking techniques. From there we'll work at creating a number of amazing grilled, broiled and torched oyster recipes and create a unique frozen mignonette. You'll see a number of ways to present Oysters which you'll then be able to recreate at your next dinner party and blow your guests out of the water. Guests will be able to get a hands on experience if they wish or just sit back and observe while enjoying the beautiful surrounding scenery. Once we've concluded the culinary aspect we'll pull up anchor and head back to the dock in Sausalito where you'll disembark the vessel. This experience will combine having an amazing time aboard a beautiful boat on the San Francisco Bay and learning all you need to know about Oysters.
Other things to note
Dress warm just in case it is a little chilly on the water.

I am a licensed Captain who's logged over 25,000 offshore nautical miles since learning to sail as a child. I've sailed into 37 countries on multiple sailing voyages. While on these trips I developed a passion for cooking and learning to create unique meals pertaining to the cultural heritage and national identity of these countries. Cooking in small galleys on boats while at sea became an exciting challenge and provisioning in different countries inspired creativity. I've worked in a number of restaurants around the world which helped to expand my culinary skills and passion towards creating beautiful meals. Since moving to San Francisco and starting a sailing charter business May on the Bay I've been looking to create an experience on a boat where I can share and teach my passion for cooking.
