What you'll do

Meet at Bladensburg Waterfront Park 15-30 minutes before departure to talk and outfit before we paddle a couple of miles down to the National Arboretum (part of the USDA's park and research gardens in Washington, D.C. ). If you are game, we'll take trash bags with us to collect any floating debris. Once docked, enjoy conversation and company as we enjoy the Arboretum gardens. Your guide(s) will also share stories about the Anacostia and its surroundings, including the story of The Peace Tree (1625), which survived 1945 Hiroshima, Japan, and was later gifted to the Arboretum. About 2-3 hours of time in the kayaks. Total experience is 4.5-5 hours. Price includes kayak rental and gear, lovely picnic lunch (at 11:30ish), pleasant company, story time, and peaceful/relaxing sights and sounds. Parties of 5 get the 6th guest free--to qualify book all guests under one reservation.
