What you'll do

If you are looking for a LOCAL FRIEND to host YOU or YOUR FAMILY look no further :) this is the perfect experience to enjoy as a FAMILY.

Did you know that Porto’s pastry is not confined to the PASTEL DE NATA? In fact, the variety of local pastries and cakes is unmeasurable rich and diverse. From KIDS to ADULTS, our world-famous Portuguese cuisine is full of delicious desserts, traditional cakes, and unique pastries waiting to be discovered. As a true Tripeira—the name given to people originally from Porto—I'm delighted to unveil during this experience all of these hidden gems that we have.

Throughout our experience we will visit THREE of Porto's best bakery and pastry shops, and learn all about their origins and history – perhaps even some of their secrets. We will taste EIGHT different cakes and pastries, and understand how these are made while we uncover their historical context. In addition to this, I'll suggest the right drinks to pair with the food and clarify any questions you might have. All the bakeries are within a walking distance of each other.

Finally, at the end of this two hours experience, you will have tasted all the typical sweets of the northern side of Portugal and feel how is to live like a TRUE LOCAL from Porto. Also, you will leave with plenty of suggestions of cool/local things to do in Porto not mentioned in travel guides.

I was born and raised in Porto and I love to share the passion that I have for this city through my own&unique perspective, which combines fresh flavors and cultural context.

Throughout this experience I will make you part of the tiny fraction of Porto's visitors that are able to taste the right food that lets you experience our culture, values, and ultimately the history of our worldwide recognized cuisine the same way as I do.

I look forward to hosting you throughout this experience and showcasing what our local food is really about.

A highlight of a trip to Porto! Meeting Ana Claudia felt like meeting a friend for a whole lot of treats, but the kind of friend who talks history, culture, travel, architecture, food. She was a delight and our tour ran longer than originally planned as the conversation flowed and the sweets were never ending. A great selection of treats with historical and cultural background explained that I wouldn't have tried otherwise. Thank you Ana Claudia for a lovely experience.

For me, the pastries are not the main highlight of the tour. They are lovely and some are addictive too. But the most important part is meeting Ana Claudia, a cheerful and nice guide. She clicked with us right away and the tour felt like we were old friends who caught up after a long time. She gave her insight of Porto, a bit of history and also the culture: what matters for the Porto people, their background - so it’s not only the stories behind the pastries. Really enjoyed the experience.

I took a pastry and desserts tour with Ana last Friday. I turned out to be the only attendant for this particular tour (the earlier savory tour was quite popular), and was pleasantly surprised that Ana did not cancel. (I’ve had other guides who canceled if less than a certain amount of people register.) I was afraid that the lack of other guests would make for an awkward time, but Ana is so friendly and easy to talk to that it turned out to be a wonderful personal tour. She introduced me to some wonderful desserts, presented with a dose of history and culture.
