What you'll do

Try a new sport regardless of your ability or disability!

If you have seen wheelchair tennis at the Paralympics or Wimbledon, you will have seen what an exciting and exhilarating sport it is. Come along to try it out and gain an understanding of how difficult this elite sport is.

No matter your age, ability or disability, this is a great opportunity to sit in a tennis wheelchair (provided) and have a hit with an experienced wheelchair tennis player.

I will teach you some basic pushing techniques and give you some tips, and then we can have a hit or focus on any specific aspects of the game you are most interested in.

Be prepared to get sweaty, possibly get some blisters on your hands, but have the opportunity to try and master a unique sport.

I can be flexible with days and times, so if you would like to book for a specific day and time then please message me and we can co-ordinate.

Sport has always been a really big part of my life, but after an accident in 2011, I fractured my spine and was left paralysed from the waist down. I thought I would no longer be able to play sport, but I decided to try out wheelchair tennis almost 3 years ago. I have had a whirlwind journey since and am now an internationally ranked player and part of the GB Development Squad.

Wheelchair tennis has transformed my life - I have re-ignited my passion for sport and have found something that pushes me to my physical and mental limits.

Where you'll be

We will be on an indoor court either at Islington Tennis Centre, my local tennis centre (Sutton Tennis Academy) or if there are some courts that are more convenient to you then I can be flexible.

Indoor courts are recommended as they are much smoother and easier to push on. Also the British weather is not reliable enough for an outdoor session. If on the day the sun is shining then we can move to an outdoor court if preferred.

Wheelchair tennis was SO MUCH FUN! Suzanne was an excellent teacher and provided everything from a sports wheelchair to bottles of water. In a two hour session, I learnt how to serve, rally and even how to pick up a tennis ball with my racket! This experience is an absolute 'must-do' for anyone keen or curious about disability sports, or just wanting to try something new and exciting in London!

Incredible afternoon learning Wheelchair Tennis with Suzanne ! We were a group of 3 guests which was a perfect size and allowed to play both singles and doubles. Suzanne was a great host and teacher to the whole group and gave us loads of individual time as well to help us improve our technique. This class was a lot of fun, a good workout, as well as an eye opening experience. Highly recommended

A truly transformational experience. This is something I wouldn't normally consider doing, but I am so glad I did it. Firstly, it's a lot of fun. You're forcing you body and mind to re-think an activity that is normally so familiar. I actually enjoyed this more than able bodied tennis. Secondly, you're learning something new. It opens up a new world and drastically increases your empathy for those in a wheelchair. Finally, and most importantly, Suzanne is an exceptional host. She sets the right pace for the group and makes every effort to ensure all guests are enjoying themselves. Best experience I have done on Airbnb and something I couldn't recommend highly enough.

This was the very best experience ever! First of all, Suzanne makes you feel super welcome ! She is a great coach and teaches you how to move with the chair and with the racket (teaser: It is much much harder than expected and requires coordination!). Wheelchair tennis is super fun.

Suzanne is a brilliant teacher, and knows how to bring out the best in people - even hopeless players like me! Over the course of the experience we covered the key skills - pushing, serving, rallying - and were able to play some games too. Warmly recommended to anyone interested in trying wheelchair tennis. Give it a go!

We started off learning how to push the chair, and then moved on to getting to the ball and hitting it. We were rallying in no time and even finished with a match! Great fun to be able to pick up a new sport and a privilege to be taught by such a pro! Suzanne gave personalised feedback and adapted to our pace.
