What you'll do

Whether you’re a seasoned climber or complete beginner, I’ll teach you my personal training techniques and methods to help you get stronger and feel in tune with your body and mind. We’ll go through three interactive modules where I will teach you a skill and then we'll practice it together.

The first will be mobility. In climbing it's important to be flexible and strong, and mobility is a practice that helps to preserve and increase your joint ranges of motion. All you’ll need is comfortable clothes you can move in, and, if you want, a yoga mat for the floor.

In the second module, you’ll learn about grip strength training. There are tools that climbers have developed to enhance grip—I’ll show you some ways to work on your grip just using everyday household items.

Finally, we will talk about visualization and strategic techniques. No equipment is needed, except the power of your imagination. At the end of the lesson we will have time for a Q&A session.

I'm a professional climber and climbing coach from Vancouver, BC. I've been climbing for 20 years, competing for 15, and coaching for seven years. I have competed on the World Cup circuit for the past five years and this past February I qualified to represent Canada at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

We enjoyed learning various stretches that we didn’t know before that we are excited to use before we climb next time. The section on visualization was completely new for us and something that sets this class apart from other fitness courses. Alannah provided great personalized advice during QA at the end of the class. Especially as a climber this experience was super interesting and inspiring.

I really appreciate this unique experience with one of the best climbers in the world. It feels amazing to be able to do some exercises together with Alannah and other climbers around the world. (I’m going to regularly practice those exercises.) It was well structured in a nice pace, and Alannah was friendly and approachable throughout the time. Her explanation was clear and easy to understand. Preparing for the upcoming olympic competition must be intense. So I really appreciate her efforts to share her experience and precious time with me and others. I strongly recommend this experience.

Alannah is super nice and friendly. She gives insights into her training routine, easy to follow instructions for exercises you can do at home and –what I found most valuable– how to prime yourself with detailed visualization to conquer crux moves and reach your climbing goals. Last but not least she took extra time to answer every single question in the Q&A at the end. Just an overall very nice experience.

Alannah was very personable, knowledgeable, analytical, and experienced! She shared a lot of tips and personal learnings that I think will improve my climbing here on. Prior to this session, I've always had trouble being discplined to "train" for climbing, and I think a big of that lack of motivation came from not understanding the importance of training. I think Alannah also did a good job explaining that and relating it to a bit of the anatomy of our bodies. Overall, she was wonderful and I'm really glad I got to learn from her!
