West Seattle History Hike - By Request

Seattle, United States

Experience hosted by Jay

3 hours, Hosted in English

What you'll do

We will start from the ferry boat landing in West Seattle, just like travelers did in 1888. From there we will take on some stunning city views and visit Seattle's oldest neighborhood.

We will hike through an old growth forest just like the first settlers did - virtually unchanged.

We will visit the birthplace of Seattle monument (the landing site of the first settlers) to become fully immersed in the history of West Seattle.

We will then travel through town to another great hike in a 68 acre park that that boasts the only publicly-owned climbing rock in the city. A park that you can rent a cabin with a fire pit within the city.

This experience will expand your knowledge of the history of Seattle and open your eyes to what our founding fathers fell in love with.

Plan on hiking, sightseeing and taking pictures. There will be an opportunity to grab coffee and a snack along the way. There really is no better place than West Seattle - come see for yourself!

Other things to note:
You may choose to travel by ferry boat to and from Seattle. This will enhance your experience by immersing you in the life & times of early residents.

Jay will take you on a historic experience regarding the early settlers coming to West Seattle area... And he will skillfully weave these experiences into what the area is like today. He makes this history come alive – and you even feel like you were there. Way worth going on his tour! Put on your hiking shoes/boots. It’s a great trip! (even if you were born and raised in the area, you won’t regret it.)

My friend and I had an amazing time with Jay (and another guest). Jay shared with us many insights about West Seattle. There was opportunities to experience all aspects, from the forest to the ocean to small town America. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Great escape from downtown Seattle. What I loved: nice clean car, very pleasant guide, that he waited on me even though my water taxi was running late, that we got to hike in out of the way and beautiful places I never could have found on my own, that we saw adorable neighborhoods with gorgeous landscaping, that we had some fabulous donuts, my fellow guests, who were delightful.
