About your host

Hi, I'm an artist and guide for explorers at heart. I'm a full-time working artist, and I've been teaching art both locally and online for over 10 years. I've taught everyone from total beginners to practicing artists, and I totally believe you can paint. I'm a life-long Oregonian and a world traveler. I treasure the connections with people around the globe that I make through Air BnB and teaching…

What we’ll do

You'll have a blast in this hands-on workshop. Taking our inspiration from local mountains, trees, and iconic Portland sights, we will layer color and imagery to build up a beautiful local scene. Using acrylic paint, paper, and mixed media, you'll make a piece that is completely unique to you, guided by my examples. You don't have to have any previous art experience to participate in this…

What else you should know

Dress for messy. In addition to the artwork you make in class, you will receive my "insider's guide map" to the nearby murals, art and vintage stores, and other cool things I love in the neighborhood.

What I’ll provide

Drinks
Tea and coffee
Equipment
Art materials I'll provide all materials including paint and painting surfaces. My friendly small dog, Summer, is often at the studio.

What to bring

Wear clothing you're willing to accidentally spill paint on
Dress in layers, as due the large windows & changing weather, the studio can change from chilly to hot rather quickly
Studio #272 is located at the very West end of the 2nd floor of the Ford building, across from Pinterest.

Where you'll be

My studio is in the historic Ford factory building in the Southeast industrial arts district. Four floors of creatives work here, and a community art gallery spans the first floor. I've been working out of my sunny space on the second floor for five years. It's on MAX Orange line and #4 Bus line. Driving? There's free parking in neighborhood, and paid parking in visitor lots. Avoid crossing the train tracks on SE 11th and 12th south of Division.
