What you'll do

We will meet at the train station and starting point of our tour in Niederdollendorf (35 minutes from Cologne with trainline RB 27).
We will go for a beautiful and varied hike. The tour leads us through picturesque villages and enchanted forests over the heights of the Rhine Valley with fantastic views of the Rhine and the Bay of Bonn. We pass the famous Petersberg and the Drachenfels. The tour ends in Rhöndorf, the birthplace of Konrad Adenauer. In the village you can taste some local vine and taste some original cake in the famous traditional Café Profittlich. From there it takes just under 40 minutes by train back to Cologne.

Where you'll be

The hike takes place in the south of Cologne, close to the river rhine. We will start our walk at the station in Niederdollendorf and will finish in Rhöndorf. On our walk we will pass villages, forests, mountains, caves and famous tourist attractions like Petersberg and Drachenfels. There are several restaurants on the way. In Rhönorf you can visit famous Konrad Adenauer Museum, have dinner or just take the train back to Cologne (40 Minutes).

Hiking with Nina in the woods of Petersburg and the Drachenfels was a really good experience. I really enjoyed the hike and Nina made it so much fun with her unique insight and knowledge of the area.

More tips

The route is about 12 km in total, with a rather steep ascent to the Petersberg (336 m) and now and then steep paths leading down into the valley. We mainly walk natural forest paths. A good basic condition should be present, but there is also always an opportunity to take a break and enjoy the land
