What you'll do

See acclaimed one-man play performed in the actor's home

I will perform my acclaimed one-man show, "The Chronic Single's Handbook," for a small audience in The Ross Center for the Performing Arts. (My living room)

After the show, there will be time for Q&A on acting, fiction writing, story-telling, and more.

The show: A chronically-single guy takes a trip around the world hoping to change his luck with love. Sweet, innocent, occasionally naughty, slightly true, the one-man play combines the personal journey of "Eat, Pray, Love" with the naive silliness of "The 40-Year-Old Virgin."

The show has been featured at theater festivals around the U.S., Canada, and Edinburgh, Scotland. To read full reviews or to watch videos, go to: https://randyrossmedia.com/one-man-show/

I am a novelist, seasoned traveler, and performer. In 2007, I took a trip around the world and learned to say in three languages: "Speak English?" "Got Pepto-Bismol?" and "Where is the evacuation helicopter?" My novel (God Bless Cambodia) and one-man show (The Chronic Single's Handbook) were inspired by the trip. Previously, I was an executive editor for PC World magazine. More about me: randyrossmedia.com

Where you'll be

The show will be performed in my home in funky, artsy Somerville, a short cab, Uber, or subway from downtown Boston. Or 20-minute walk to Harvard Square in Cambridge. My apartment is a 3rd floor walk up. Sorry, no handicapped access.

I highly recommend this show if you are a broad minded person and willing to be always curious about something new The show is really elaborate and shows a lot of interesting details as well as deep understanding of not only traveling but also lifestyle. I enjoyed the show throughout the whole time and finally we had a memorable talk about Randy’s career, which impressed me a lot. He is really an interesting guy. Life is just a journey. Why not try something special? Sign up for it!

At the moment I am at the airport, I am about to board the plane and leave Boston. Before leaving, I wrote this event evaluation. This is a special experience appointment. After receiving my reservation, Randy told me that I will be the only audience for this day's performance. (I thought this event is likely to be cancelled.) I didn't expect Randy to respect me. Will, when Randy knows that my English is not very good and may not fully understand the story, but still wants to see his performance, Randy responds to me very quickly and happily and he will perform this performance for me. God! This is really a VIP treatment! So, the day before yesterday, I went to an old house near Harvard and saw Randy! Randy is a person who is very keen to understand and take into account the feelings of others. This may be the talent of a performing artist! Although I only watched the audience, I didn't feel embarrassed or uncomfortable at all. Randy's wonderful performance made me look very invested. Although most of the words were not fully understood because of my English ability, Randy let me understand the story through the precise conversion of body language, facial expressions, sounds and movements during his performance. The plot and outline. Appreciating Randy's performance is a treat! Because I can feel the charm of performance creation! In the performances of the day before yesterday, Randy was very good at decorating a few characters (different ages, genders, identities) and transformed them into a vivid image! And my favorite and most impressed is the scene of performing anger and collapse. Randy is very clever and clever. He uses a muffled performance method (usually the actor will simply use roaring or body impact to perform anger). Randy does not make a sound, but uses the mouth shape to let the audience understand the line. Then he uses the slow, exaggerated body movements and exaggerated facial changes to interpret this huge anger. His treatment is very advanced and the level of performance is very rich. I can understand the drama completely. The emotions of the characters! After the end, Randy also asked me very sincerely about his plot. I really appreciate Randy, I really like this performance class! I have recommended this experience to my friends! Now I am writing my experience here to help more people understand and choose this event .

Randy was welcoming and professional. We quickly became a comfortable audience and his ability to create a scene with minimal props was magical. We especially enjoyed our discussion after the play. The play itself was amusing and we identified th parts of his single man journey. Highly recommended

What a special evening! We were in town with friends on our 3rd annual trip to the city after Thanksgiving, which had included seeing a couple of plays. We didn’t find any shows we were interested in until I saw Randy’s ad for his show, which sounded like an interesting evening. We were not disappointed and all.really enjoyed the evening! I highly recommend!

Randy is truly a one of a kind performer. His storytelling ability is unparalleled, part memoir, part stand up comedy, with a splash of poetry slam. His exceptionally honest steam of consciousness style pulls you in, and the moments run the gamut- from hilariously awkward to relatably forlorn. I loved the intimacy of the space, too, right in the living room! Truly a unique and enjoyable experience. Thank you, Randy Randy!!
