What you'll do

Traditionally Brazils luscious nature and cultural melange offers many delicious, colourful, healthy options. Discover Brazils unique culture through it's food and drinks, in a 100% whole-food, plant-based version. Learn about Umami and how to bring your creations to a new level. Impress you loved ones back home with your new knowledge.

Learn how to prepare tested&trusted versions of Feijoada, Acaraje and Vatapa, Moqueca, Bobó... and the best Caipirinha ever!

What we'll do:
I welcome you in an absolutely unique setting in my colonial villa on the edge of Santa Teresa. Coming to my place will already be an experience by itself.

After your arrival I offer you a little snack and some drinks to refresh yourself while giving you a short introduction to the influences that shaped Brazilian cuisine and an overview of what we will prepare.
Then we jump into our course and learn the most important thing: how to make Caipirinha (I have 20+y experience!).
Next we prepare our dishes listening to Samba or other beautiful Brazilian music.

Once everything is ready we enjoy our food in the patio under the centenarian mango tree.

COVID-19-update: I'll keep us all safe! We will be outdoors all the time (but covered from the elements), I have a big fan for extra ventilation and my groups are limited to max 6 people!

I LOVE FOOD! I love to try everything and to prepare meals for fellow foodies. I am a world traveller. I love to discover a culture through it's food. And I am an idealist. I want to leave the world a better place than I found it.

Vegan cuisine is a colorful, delicious way to be a part of the solution and to heal your body, mind and soul. But it's better to know a few things about ingredients and their use. This is why I open my outside kitchen for you and share my knowledge about how to prepare delicious food, the influences on Brazilian cuisine as well as my best vegan Brazilian recipes.

One huge plus is that my kitchen is an OUTDOOR kitchen, so it's naturally very well ventilated. Also I limit the participants of my courses to 6 participants at a time and only have 1 course per day in order to guarantee safety for me and my guests.

Where you'll be

The cooking class will take place in the colonial Villa from 1897 where I live and offer hospitality through Airbnb. I transformed the former wash house in the backyard into an open air kitchen. In front of it I have a patio under the mango tree which was planted "by accident" around 100 years ago and is now 20+ meters high. We'll eat there. The Villetta is a incredibly peaceful place and my green refuge from the chaotic city out there.

A great culinary class in a beautiful setting. Juliane knows a lot about the Brazilian cuisine as well as it’s history and is a very warm and welcoming hostess.

If you are in Rio and want a take a culinary advantage and try something new, this is definitely something to take into consideration. You will not be disappointed! It’s worth it. Thanks Ju.

This is a truly lovely experience. Juliane has created a warm and welcoming evening which blends the history of Brazil with it's music and is intertwined with fantastic food and drinks throughout, all set in the bohemian environment of Santa Teresa. 100% recommended!

We came in just expecting to cook, but we left having learned history and cuisine, tried new culinary techniques, expanded our palates, and made friends. Juliane’s kitchen is worthy of a Michelin-star — some of the best bites we’ve had in months. Anyone and everyone will feel welcome and leave full — our table had carnivores and vegans, non-drinkers and drunks, non-Portuguese speakers and non-English speakers. But we all felt at home with Juju (and the world’s most adorable vegan doggos!)
