What you'll do

We will begin our journey in Manuel Antonio where we will all meet and take the local bus or drive to a hidden path that will take us on a 45min hike through the jungle. We will be walking along a river bed until we reach El Salto the jungle creek waterfall. On this hike you may encounter monkeys, snakes, frogs, fish, sloths, birds, spiders and all sorts of other animals and plants. When you reach the waterfall you will arrive at the top of the falls. There is also a small yet steep trail that will lead you around to get to the bottom to cool off if you want a swim. Pack a lunch and be prepared to be with nature at its best.

This tour has been altered from 10 people max to 4 (until Dec 2020). It will make it more intimate and safer during the Covid pandemic. If a larger group or family wishes to book please send a request.
Other things to note
Be prepared for a 45 min hike (each way) through slippery and some steep terrain. We are in a rain forest so animals and bugs could appear and it could rain so assume the possibility of getting wet.

I was born in Costa Rica, but am part French and was raised in Golfito. I have always been an adventurer, from skateboarding to hiking in the jungle. I went to school to become a licensed guide in Costa Rica, where I learned about all its animals and wildlife. I have a passion for sharing my love of the wilderness, and look forward to sharing my experiences with you.

Unique experience literally off the beaten path. Jumping into the waterfall was exhilarating and Alex did a spectacular job pointing out wildlife I would have overlooked on my own. Includes beer to sip while immersed in nature. Oh and did I mention that his puppy came along!!!

This was a magical trip through the jungle growing wild to see all the plant life / flora and navigating it jumping from rock to rock and dodging tree roots. It’s a secluded area that not many know about m. We only saw 3 locals on our hike. The waterfall was a climatic end before heading back. Alex was a wonderful host who gave us a hand when needed.

Alex (and his adorable four-legged friend, Bella) took us on an incredible journey. He pointed out so many incredible tree species, small animals and then the arrival at the waterfall certainly met all of our expectations! The hike is definitely not for the faint at heart or for anyone with imbalance skills. I felt as though we walked through the entire Costa Rican route system! There were also a few creek crossings that were a bit precarious, but we are all in our 50's and 60's and made it without any significant problems. Alex was super familiar with the flora, insects, tree systems, etc. We learned so much, just on the way to the waterfall. Once at the falls, all of the guys jumped off the cliff into the refreshing water. Getting back up to the top requires you to scale a cliff with a knotted rope. Again, not for the faint at heart. Worth the trip, for sure!!!
