What you'll do

Meet your guide in Kyiv and check your passport details before departing. It takes around 2 hours to get to the main entrance of the zone (checkpoint Dytiatky) where you will pass through passport control and begin the tour.

Discover the town of Chernobyl, where almost 2500 people work and live. See the main square of the city of Chernobyl and the Wormwood Star memorial, with one of the few remaining statues of Lenin left in Ukraine. Move on to the Chernobyl river port with its sunken boats and ships. You make a quick stop at the local shop (if needed) before going to the Memorial to Those Who Saved the World. After proceeding to the exhibition on robotic vehicles that participated in the initial clean-up back in 1986.

Then, head to the village of Kopachi where almost all the buildings have been buried into the ground during the decontamination works of 1986. The area is very overgrown now. You will stop near the remaining nursery school. After lunch, go to Prypiat – the ghost town where time stopped on April 26th 1986. Travel back in time and plunge into the communism era. Your professional guide will help you explore and get to understand the town for roughly 2 hours.
After that, tired but happy head back for Kyiv.

I am a professional guide, a hobby photographer, a co-founder of GAMMA TRAVEL and a happy dad. I know almost every path and every corner of the Chernobyl Zone. Even more, I know when it's the best time to see a location for the very best picture you may take. My guiding career started in 2010, and since then, I can't get enough of the Zone. It became my source of inspiration. Adventurous spirit and a great sense of humour help me to conduct trips in the best possible way. For me, it's not a job but a passion. I am doing my best to provide an unforgettable and safe experience and make every single customer more than satisfied.

There are a bunch of companies offering tours of Chernobyl so I did a lot of research to hopefully find the best option. I am glad I made the choice to go with Mykola and Gamma Travel as the experience was clearly much more personal and rich than some of the larger companies could offer. Every aspect of the all day tour with Gamma Travel was fantastic. Mykola was very easy to communicate with when establishing the timing and details of the tour. We met in a central part of the city and drove to the exclusion zone in a very comfortable vehicle. Along the way, he explained some of the background history. It was clear we were traveling with an experienced guide who know exactly where to go, and what to see. The tour with tons of wonderful anecdotes. If I have friends visiting I the future I will undoubtably be referring them to Mykola!
