What you'll do

You will find your Captain down at the Belfast City Harbor Dock aboard the Back and Forth, a traditional 28ft wooden lobster boat, the perfect iconic vessel to take a Sunset cruise in Mid-Coast Maine.

Bring along your beverage of choice and relax in one of the captains chairs as we take a short tour around Belfast harbor where we can chat about Belfast and it's activities.

We will cruise over to Young's lobster pound, tie up and the captain will take you into one of Maine's most iconic Lobster pounds. It gets extremely busy, so an order of lobster rolls will be waiting for us. But there is no rush, take time to check out the lobster tanks, take some pictures and just soak up the energy of the place.

Back down on the boat, we will cruise out into the bay. You can bask in the serenity, take photos, drink, eat and we can chat about everything or nothing.

The Captains have endless stories about Belfast, from great whites to the gigantic sunfish spotted last season and even stories of hidden treasure out on one of the 200 islands of Penobscot Bay.

The whole trip will take about 2 hours and will get you back just after sunset.

Where you'll be

You get the pleasure of seeing Belfast from the water and get time to view all the unique vessels in the harbor. We will cruise out to the iconic Youngs lobster pound where we will call in to grab our sunset cruise feast. Once we are prepared we will head onward to the Belfast monument and out into Penobscot Bay. Maine really is best seen from the water & it is most beautiful at sunset.

Most beautiful sunset we've seen! Captain Tap was fantastic, lobster rolls delicious - would recommend to anyone. The night we were scheduled was stormy so Lisa helped us switch our reservation to the following night -the flexibility was appreciated and we couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Lovely sunset cruise. Unfortunately it was a bit overcast but the captain was knowledgeable about the area so we were still able to see a bit of sunset. Great ambiance and we had a great meal with lots of laughs on the water. Thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in our party.

This was such a fun, relaxing way to close out our trip to Maine. Our captain was kind enough to take us out on the boat despite rain, and he thoughtfully answered our questions and showed us a great time, in spite of the weather. We’re so grateful and would highly recommend this experience, particularly to travelers who’ve never been to Maine before.

We really enjoyed our sunset lobster cruise and would definitely recommend this experience to others. Our guide was friendly and professional, and kept us entertained with stories during our cruise. The only downside was that he was somewhat soft spoken and difficult to hear over the sound of the engine. We decided to spend the extra money to book the entire boat, ensuring that the three of us, along with our pup, were able to spread out comfortably. It might have felt a bit cramped if three other people had joined us on the boat, especially when enjoying our lobster rolls and taking photos of the beautiful views. Speaking of lobster rolls, the ones from Young’s Lobster Pound were awesome! I can see why the place is so crowded. We were blessed with a gorgeous sunset. Given the heavy fog and mist that we’ve experienced on other days, we weren’t so sure that would be the case. I would recommend bringing a warm outer layer, since evenings on the water can get chilly. The shawls and blankets on board were a welcome bonus. Overall, this was a great way to enjoy the sights, sounds and flavors of mid-coastal Maine!
