What you'll do
We will learn what makes a shark a shark, why they are an important part of a healthy ocean. I'll go into camera gear specifics, along with how to use waterhousing. Then we will explore and take a virtual visit to the best shark diving locales on Earth- New Zealand, The Bahamas, and Isla Guadalupe! Ethics of shark diving and ecotourism will be discussed, along with the power of sharing shark imagery on social media.

Aloha! I am Mike, and am a surfer, photographer, shark attack survivor and shark advocate. I lost my leg to a tiger shark surfing at home in Hawai'i as a teen, and have been in awe of the animal that nearly took my life ever since. I've been a professional photographer for over 15 years, featured on CBS, NBC, CNN, PBS, MSN, Yahoo!, Discovery, Google, Smithsonian, Vice, Buzzfeed, Daily Mail and The Huffington Post. Time Magazine named me top three shark photographers to follow, and I have a community of a 250K devoted shark loving fans on Instagram. I am the recipient of the GoPro Hero award, and am often diving with sharks around the world. My goal is to balance the narrative Hollywood scripts, showing that sharks are both brains AND brawn. I am active in shark legislation, and have spoken out for sharks at the UN and US Senate.
