How to participate

    Take A Chef can host private groups of any size, up to 10 guests. Private group rates start at $561.

What to bring

  • 1 whole fish (around 700-800g) of either Snapper or Sea Bream (A fish that is good for pan frying)
  • 1 Bunch of Broccolini, or any green vegetable that you prefer (around 150-200g)
  • Garnish ingredients: 60g Bean shoots, 1 Long Red Chili, Handful of fresh Coriander leaves, Handful of fresh Thai Basil leaves, if you are unable to find these herbs, pick something similar, preferably asian.
  • For coconut broth:
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder

Chef Rishi began his culinary career at the age of 22 at Taxi Dining Room in Melbourne. A few years later, he relocated to Sydney where he worked as a Chef de Partie and later worked at Yellow by Brent Savage as a pastry chef. In 2015, Rishi moved to Singapore and opened Cheek Bistro in 2017.
Since 2012, Take a Chef has connected thousands of local chefs and guests in over 100 countries, through private chef experiences at home.

Rishi was a great host and chef! He walks you through each step, very patiently. From the intricacies of prepping the broth, to minutiae of cutting fish - he made me feel like an expert eventhough it was my first time making the dish! Really enjoyed the experience.

Rishi's recipe for fish with coconut lemongrass broth looked delicious! I didn't cook in real time since it was very late with the time difference, but I enjoyed learning about filleting a fish and tricks to make a flavourful broth even if we can't get all the same ingredients here in Canada. Definitely some improvements could be made to giving verbal cues and timing but Rishi is an expert and you can sense his enthusiasm / passion through the camera!

Chef Rishi is a master at what he does and reveals the technique to making a wonderful dish that can be made at home. He takes the time to help students execute the dish, from how to filet a fish, to the presentation. He's very patient and gives clear instructions on how to recreate a fine dish.
