This outing is for adventurous food lovers who seek a morning of fun, exploration, and tasting the unknown. Enjoy a personalized shopping trip through one of Bordeaux's glorious markets, buy fresh local food you have never tasted, seen, nor dared to try. Did you ever wonder what those popular sea snails taste like? How about a few shrimp with their heads on? Or savor that runny, yummy, raw-milk cheese. Now this is possible. We'll bring our purchases back to a cozy home-like setting and sample all the goodies for a casual lunch. Assorted mustard, butters, and other accompaniments will be provided, and a glass of wine will be offered.

As a French-speaking American who developed a love of France very early on, I started my career in Paris, and recently returned to live and work in Bordeaux. In my native New York, I enjoyed success as a home-furnishing and food editor for top American publications. Having produced countless lifestyle stories about food and wine, it was a natural transition to bring my knowledge and talents to the tourism industry of Bordeaux. I currently specialize in providing English-speaking travelers with a personal look at the Bordeaux food markets and sharing my passion for all culinary arts.

Where you'll be

We will be visiting the Marché des Capucins, Bordeaux’s largest city centre food market for centuries. Capucine market overflows with regional specialties and mouth-watering produce. On Saturday and Sundays there is also a flea market and additional food vendors making the area an exciting and fun destination. After our market visit, we will return to the historic Chartrons neighborhood and savor our delicacies for lunch in a cozy apartment.

I had such a great time with Kim! She certainly know all the great stands in the market and introduced me amazing French food which I probably would never try myself! Her apartment is also a gem! It’s beautifully designed & well located within a chic building in a peaceful neighborhood. I really enjoyed this experience! Thanks Kim!! Would highly recommend this experience to anyone.

This is a wonderful experience. Kim is a unique person, who makes the moment joyful. Together with my husband and 5month old daughter, we visit the central market. During the experience, Kim told us a lot not only about food but also about Bordeaux and France history. We have a very nice conversation, and making a pause for breastfeeding was not a problem. Also, Kim helped us to choose souvenirs for our friends, and after come home we had a french party with french duck, cheese, wine, and colorfull carrots! :). Moreover, Kim's house is so cozy! All small details make it stylish and comfy. We thank a lot Kim for hospitality, fun and advise everybody to join her on the market!

This was a remarkable and incredible food experience from beginning to end. We visited the amazing Capucine market where we selected fresh items including olives, cheese, meats, tomatoes, and other delicacies. We were then invited back to Kim's apartment for a cozy lunch comprised of all the amazing market finds and our choice of wine. This was truly a unique experience. Kim is so passionate about the food culture in Bordeaux and that made the experience so memorable.

We had an amazing experience exploring the Capucins market in Bordeaux. Kim knows the market like the "back of her hand" and introduced us to many wonder delicacies. We then went back to her apartment for a delightful lunch. It was an exceptionally great outing for us.

Spending several hours with Kim was delightful. We’ve travelled in France many times and been to many markets but Kim’s knowledge of the vendors was special. It was great fun putting together a meal and then going other lovely apartment to share our purchases. She’s a warm and knowledgeable hostess. She answered our questions about Bordeaux and had some great suggestions about what to do and what to skip. We had an absolutely lovely day with her.
