What you'll do

In this experience, you'll learn everything you need to start making immune-boosting, bubbly sodas. Start a couple of fermentation jars in your home, add some magic ingredients to make it healthy and balance the flavors, and you'll be an artisan soda maker in no time!

I'll be teaching a traditional Mexican recipe for a wild-fermented pineapple soda called tepache. With only a few ingredients, you can have your own delicious, fizzy, probiotic soda within a week! I'll give some tips on how to incorporate any spices and herbs you might have growing in your garden, on your balcony, or hiding in your pantry.

What happens when soda making goes awry and ferments a little too long? Vinegar! Learn about how to use amazing, fruit-based vinegar, which has an abundance of medicinal and culinary value.
Other things to note
No experience required or previous knowledge of fermentation required! If you have access to spices, herbs, or fruits, you can definitely incorporate them into these recipes. If not, they can also be done with the few simple ingredients listed!

How to participate

  • Join a video call
    Use Zoom to participate on your desktop or mobile device. After you book you’ll receive an email with a link and details on how to join.

Wow! Sam was the most wonderful and sweetest host! Her guidance through the process was so soothing and relaxing, and the event was super educational as well! Sam is absolutely delightful. Her tropical setting with birds chirping and roosters crowing transports you to her tropical fruit farm. She has a pro style set up with two cameras so you can see exactly what she is doing. Her instructions and storytelling is very informative. You will have a great time learning about wild fermentation and making your own medicinal soda with Sam. Don't hesitate to book with her, I did this for a team event and everyone had a fantastic time!

Highly recommend! Enjoy the sounds of Costa Rica while learning how to make naturally delicious drinks. So cool! Is a wonderful introduction to a practice and recipes so many of us can enjoy and sam makes it easy to follow along and incorporate what you have and could do with your local ingredients. Lots of possibilities. I really enjoyed it. A wonderful way to spend an hour.
