What you'll do

Go on a gallery hop through exhibitions by local KL artists

For this unique experience, we're excited to introduce you to art and galleries around Kuala Lumpur! We'll be visiting a minimum of three exhibitions via public transportation (trains/bus/Grab) or by walking so you can enjoy the city landscape. If we're lucky, we will get to meet the gallery curator, designer, or the artists themselves.

This experience will support Persatuan Kakiseni, a registered nonprofit in Kuala Lumpur. At Kakiseni, we believe that good things should be shared and more people should have access to the performing arts. We are certain that when people come together to have the same conversation, it makes for an enriching experience. Cheers to good art being shared!

REMINDER: Please be punctual and inform me if you're running late. If there are other guests on the experience, I will wait 15 minutes for you to arrive. However, if you are the only guest, I'll give you 30 minutes to arrive. Upon your request, I can meet you at the next meeting point instead of cancelling the experience.

My name is Shufitri and I've been going to galleries and art spaces in Kuala Lumpur for about 4 years now. Working at Kakiseni, an NGO for the arts, has given me more reason to frequent them as well as interact with the artists and community. I look forward to hosting you on behalf of Kakiseni!

The experience overall is OK,but I wouldn't say it's 5 star. The host and us didn't communicate much.and we went barely 3 small galleries (the second one only have one artist's work the last one only have 1 installation and it's in mid valley area, far from downtown )we were expecting the host could introduce to us more, only the last installation we visited have someone to guide us.

If you’re interested in contemporary art, this tour is a perfect way to get to know Malaysian art! Shufitri is an excellent, approachable, and passionate guide. He helped us understand the Malaysian cultural context behind the artworks, which allowed me to appreciate the art more deeply. If I went to these galleries alone, I wouldn’t have been able to understand certain Malaysian cultural references, so it was really valuable to have a guide explain things, translate Malay phrases in the art, and answer questions. I came away from the experience feeling like I learned a lot about local art and culture. I’m so glad that I did this experience, and if you love art, you’ll love this too!

The selection of galleries perfectly showcased Malaysian contemporary artists and you get a real sense of the country and it's history through this tour. My guide was friendly, insightful and made it easy to open up a dialogue about the art. A truly unique experience and one of the best parts of my trip.

The tour started in the national museum and ended in a small private galleri and we was guided from the big names to some not so well known. Very interesting. All artist working with new tecknik and for us who want to see different and interesting things a very nice guided tour. The guide did know a lot of things happening in Malaysia in the modern art.
