Portions of the foundation stone and the water gate still remain. This entire area is now protected and maintained as Kizan Park by the Saga Prefecture.

Spent almost a month in Japan and hands down this was one of the best experiences I had on the trip. It was very personal and truly connected with the amazing couple that guided me throughout the hike. It was an unforgettable experience with nature and I highly recommend it. I hope to make these hikes a tradition every time I come to Japan.

If you are reading reviews for this experience, don't bother, don't hesitate, just book it. Osamu & Nami were super friendly and makes everyone feel welcomed. Slurping down udon on top of Mount Kizan just makes it that much special. Also had some coffee and sweets on a second break at a different part of Mount Kizan. Definitely THE experience you should do if you are in Fukuoka.

Osamu-san & Nami-san are really wonderful hosts. Osamu san has a really long list of high mountains climbed all over the world so you're confident with his guidance. He also taught me a lot about different plants, flowers, etc along the way. He really exerts great effort to speak to you in English! And the soba for lunch was good! Really refreshing after walking! We also dropped by an Emu farm after the hike! Because Nami-san couldn't join us (they had Google camera man visiting),they invited me to their house (they also host an airbnb!) to have afternoon snacks and coffee! Nami san is also passionate about nature and I met her cute & friendly pets (chiki chiki and ume chan), too! 💕 I felt really welcome and comfortable talking about life, work and traveling! We even shared some adventures we've been to, and I recommended some places to visit in my country! Before I left they even gave me snacks to go for when I am hungry~ really sweet of them! 💕 (btw they buy the snacks at a local bakery that employs adults with special needs!) Would definitely love to meetthen again and perhaps try booking their airbnb if I'm back in Fukuoka!

Very good experience, the hike was very nice and pleasant. Beautiful forest area and lovely view. Osamu was very kind and willing to share his knowledge. Although he said he can't speak english very well, he managed to tell us a lot about the environment and the flora around us. The udon was very satisfying after we reached the top of Mt. Kizan. Thank you so much Osamu ! :)
