Coconut Revolution 101:Castaway 4a Day

Loiza Aldea, Puerto Rico

Experience hosted by Robert

  1. 3 hours
  2. Hosted in English, German, and Spanish

What you'll do

Coconut trees are a delicious food and water source in Puerto Rico, and play a key role in protecting its coasts—come see how they can help you build your survival skills.

With a hike through a beautiful palm forest, each hands-on workshop is unique and aims to include tips on edible plants, wildlife spotting, building an emergency shelter, and how to climb a coconut tree.

Once you reach the top, you’ll learn how to pick a coconut, open it without a knife, and how it can be used as more than a refreshing drink.
Other things to note
Wear sturdy pants or shorts, shoes with socks, and bring a bathing suit if you want to bathe in the ocean. I'll try to customize this workshop, so let me know what you need as well.

Hi, my name is Brandon and I’m in love with coconuts. I studied at the University of Puerto Rico and received a certificate in Alternative Education. Island life sparked my interest in coconuts and soon I became so obsessed I researched the uses and health benefits associated with the palma de coco. This experience combines my passion with my background in education, resulting in a fun and easy workshop.
