What you'll do

If you have an egg and a chicken in your refrigerator, I really would love you to join me in making a bento box. This tasty and easy bento box will be easy to follow the instructions through online and will be perfect for lunch or dinner on your table!
We will make Japanese egg omelets (tamagoyaki) with a regular frying pan. After we make egg omelets, we will use the same frying pan to make a Teriyaki chicken ball with original homemade teriyaki sauce.
I will demonstrate how to serve egg omelets and teriyaki chicken ball with rice, green lettuce, fruit(any kinds like apple or grapes you have) in the bento box or a glass plastic container, or wood box...
If you do not have rice, you can serve without rice or if you have bread, let’s serve bread in the bento box!! Please do not worry if you don't haveJapanese rice, any kind of rice will be great!!
For this online cooking class, I will use basic Japanese food ingredients: soy sauce, sake (white wine is O.K.).
Bento box power is amazing! It helps save you time to make lunch or dinner ahead and reducing washing dishes. I hope you will save time for taking care of yourself and enjoy the bento box!!
I will making bento box from our home kitchen in Nara, Japan. I will use Zoom some can interact and cook together. Let's have fun!!

I am so grateful to have a chance to share making a Japanese style obento box with online cooking classes from our home kitchen.
I learned how to cook Japanese foods (Washoku) from my family - especially from my grandmother and mother.
They made many different lunch boxes for me called “obento”. For special events like cherry blossom viewing under the tree, picnic, camping, and school lunch etc, I have many memories and stories with obento and they are unforgettable.
To me, it is not just cooking; It is cooking together to create unforgettable memories in our lives. Now, I am very thankful to share how to make an obento box with you from our home kitchen.
Cooking at our home kitchen face to face will be seen by:

Yasuyo was a wonderful host. From the moment I reached out to her about a month prior to the event, she was gracious and quick to respond. She was excited to help me plan my event. The event itself was fun and went according to plan. She was an excellent instructor and mad everyone feel welcome. 10/10 would book with her again.

We turned to Yasu-san for a team building event and had the best time! She was so thoughtful in ensuring each member of our group was tracking with our obento preparation and did a phenomenal job setting the scene with bits of history and notes on Japanese family life. Her kitchen and home are beautiful and she was kind enough to give us a mini tour of her garden and cherry blossom tree (which was just starting to bloom). Would highly recommend this experience for work groups, family or friend groups or anyone looking to learn more about Japanese culture through cuisine. The only bad part is that we can't travel to Japan right now to experience even more after Yasu-san gave us such a great lesson!

Really fun and delicious activity. It was amazing to get a walk around her charming home and see the spring blossoms just beginning. Yasu's directions were very clear and her technical presentation via Zoom was perfect. I can't wait to have my family do one soon.
