What you'll do

This is a hands on cooking class where you will learn my secrets to making the perfect Sicilian cannoli.

You will be welcomed with a complimentary glass of wine and some savory snacks to enjoy while we make the cannoli. We will jump right in and each guest will make their own cannoli dough from scratch, on the table top, nonna style. :) You will then roll out and cook the cannoli using my handmade dowels. Next comes the filling! You will choose from a variety of recipes for your own cannoli filling including espresso, traditional chocolate chip, Nutella, almond, and the ancient version which uses Moorish flavors of rosewater or orange blossom water in the ricotta filling. It's up to you! Garnish your cannoli with toppings of your choice, (candied, fruit, toasted nuts, sprinkles, etc...), we have many to choose from!

This is a fun and interactive experience and I look forward to sharing my baking secrets with you!
Other things to note
I have a little 9lb Yorkie/Cairn Terrier dog named Enzo in case you are allergic. Please let me know in advance and I can keep him upstairs or make arrangements to send him to my neighbor’s house during the class.

I am a professional pastry chef and together with my husband, we own Cicala Restaurant inside of the historic Divine Lorraine Hotel in Philadelphia, PA. It is my passion to share my knowledge of Italian food, culture, and history. My love for travel has led me to discover many old recipes by cooking with locals in some of Italy's most remote regions. Having lived and traveled in Italy for many years, I was fortunate to learn culinary secrets from a combination of little old grandmothers in their home kitchens, to professional pastry chefs in their well known shops, as well as from my own family's Italian recipes which were handed down to me. I am excited to cook and share my passion with you!

Where you'll be

This experience takes place in my traditional South Philadelphia rowhome. This neighborhood was home to a huge population of immigrants in the early 1900's and remains a mixed cultural community today, with many mom and pop corner stores still in operation for over 100 years.

Me and my girlfriend loved our experience with Angela. She was very accommodating and tons of fun. Our cannolis came out amazing and we brought home extra dough and filling to make more. This was our first airbnb experience and my girlfriend noted that the bar has been set extremely high!

This experience was so fun! Angela was an incredible host and was so accommodating. She graciously took us through the cannoli making process and made sure that neither my 75 year old mother or 6 year old daughter didn't miss a step. Not to mention the cannoli's we made were the best we ever had! Can not recommend this experience enough!
