This is a rare opportunity to learn Origami from a Japanese local, as if Japanese kids inherit the tradition from their mothers!

Origami is a traditional art of paper crafting from Japan. It’s s intellectual, creative, artistic and relaxing.
Whether you simply would like to enjoy making shapes and learning new skills or you are interested in Japanese culture, this workshop is a perfect opportunity.

You will choose a few Origami from options with different skill levels. If you pick traditional ones, you will hear their background stories as well, to get to know Japanese culture and values. I will demonstrate folding step by step, emphasizing important skills. If you have questions or requests, I can stop and help you anytime.

Join me in the process of this lovely handcraft with your favorite color or patterned paper!

I am Japanese professional origami instructor from Tokyo. I started learning origami from my mother when I was 3 years old. Now I love Japanese traditional culture a lot and run a few related projects in English.

This experience got 4.99/5.0 stars since its launch in May 2020. This activity allowed me to meet hundreds of fantastic people from around the globe.
The core idea of my project is I don't just teach skills. My whole aim is to share Japanese traditional culture and values.

I speak TOEFL 111 level English and intermediate German. I studied history and completed Ph.D. in cultural heritage studies. I like traveling, temples and shrines, learning languages, meeting family and friends.

Manami was great and our group really enjoyed learning origami from her (some of us discovered a newfound love of it!). She was responsive in communicating expectations beforehand, super thorough, and very friendly!

I had so much fun in this origami class. I got to make four different shapes, and there was plenty of time to do it. Manami was really good at demonstrating how to make the folds, so it was super easy to follow along. Now I’m addicted to making lotuses! Highly recommend! She was also really friendly and we were chatting about life in our respective countries.

I just LOVED this experience, it was fun, it was interactive. I've never seriously done origami before. However I was able to make a wonderful meaningful crane thanks to Manami's excellent help, clear explanation and encouragement. Additionally I could ask many questions about origami etc Manami is just wonderful. Most highly recommended.

Amazing experience, Manami explains carefully how to proceed and it's really easy to follow her instructions. It's great to get a sense of Japan and create beautiful pieces of origami along the way. Recommended!

Manami was super patient, friendly, and such a great teacher. My group had an amazing time and can’t wait to practice the origami she taught us. Bunnies, sailboats, samurai hats, and boxes were our four creations, but she has plenty more choices for the more advanced individuals (like the crane). Look no further for a great step by step interactive experience.

Manami shows you each step of the process. She makes sure that each person is ready for the next step. She is a kind a patient host. She has a unique way to make the lotus flower origami that I have never seen before, and her method is my favorite method because it is gratifying to make each petal form and grow.
