Botanical Garden and Jamaican Art

Montego Bay, Jamaica

What you'll do

This nature excursion is unique because it is in our home. You will meet my family and all the birds living in the wild who make our garden their home. We'll start with a welcome and brief history of how a cliff turned into a botanical garden. This is followed by a guided visit of the terraced garden with hundreds of tropical plants. At the end you will then visit the gallery and gift shop where all items are made on site. This helps us to provide jobs for members of the community presently employed here. Our guests are then encouraged to stroll the garden on their own taking pictures and visit my partner in his studio as he paints. We are both educators, so the history of Jamaica and Rastafarians are shared with interested guests. Each guest is given a complimentary juice depending on the fruit in season. You can order an optional Jamaican lunch which is cooked to order. Amateur and professional photographers can spend hours in the garden as the subjects are numerous. There are optional art classes with my partner as the instructor. You may arrive as a guest but when you leave you will feel like you have spent the time with family and friends.

I was raised on a farm and have a natural love for nature. I love to hug trees; the trees I hug have faces on them. I have a special connection with plants and animals. Gardening for me is my therapy and the magic of the garden transcends to all who visit. I am an avid photographer, mother, wife, and businesswoman. Everything we do is artistic. Our son is hearing impaired and used to communicate through art as an infant. My entire family is passionate about highlighting the best of our island through our gallery and garden.

Where you'll be

The spectacular view of the city of Montego Bay will make you say "Ahh" the moment you arrive. We are in the mountains approximately 2000 feet above sea level and no more than 15 minutes from the cruise pier in Montego Bay. The garden has miniature heritage sites, fantasy gardens, a koi pond, and is a living canvas showing the handiwork of our family.

It was well worth it to visit this beautiful space! I enjoyed learning about the history of the place and the garden tour. Everyone was warm and welcoming. I felt comfortable as a solo female traveler from start to finish (including the transportation Tamika arranged). Highly recommend!

If you could only do one thing inJamaica, this would be it. The amazing gallery, the awesome garden, the breathtaking view, the friendly hummingbirds, and the loving, inspiring family who have created the "One Love" experience are the highlight for all our guests we take there from our Topaz Dream Palace in nearby Montego Bay. We give thanks for the creativity and beauty that surround and uplift us each time we bask in this peaceful serenity with the feel of family and being "At One' with all life.

A really great experience learning about the history of the land and the different types of plants. We bought her autobiography to learn more.

If you’re into beautiful gardens, Mountain View’s and a great background story this is the place to go. My tour guide (Ms. Marcia) was well versed, wise and kind. I seen flowers and hummingbirds I’ve never seen before. If you’re lucky you’ll get to feed one (like I did). The place has a calming vibe to it that soothed and recharged my soul. Mr. Ras and his wife Ms. Tamika really did a fine job putting this place together 10/10. Would highly recommend. *side note* There’s a lil restaurant right in front you could hit right after the tour

The botanical garden was just beautiful and the view once you get to the top! Is just breath taking. It’s worth it and what makes this garden that much special. Is the story behind building this beautiful garden!
