What you'll do

In this experience, you will learn how to make Nerikiri Wagashi, which are traditional Japanese sweets. Since this sweet is served in the tea ceremony, the motif will change depending on the season. The sweets you will make will differ depending on the season of the experience, so please contact us if you want to know the which motif you will be making in advance.

Starting with how to make fabrics that can be easily made at home, we color and mold them. In this experience, we will make two types of seasonal Nerikiri.

When the reservation is completed, we will send you a recipe on how to make white bean paste, which is the ingredient for Neri-kiri Japanese sweets. Follow the recipe and make white bean paste by the lesson day. (It is OK even if purchased)

On the day of the lesson, please have ready the white bean paste, food coloring, sugar, rice cake flour and designated tools to participate. We will be using the microwave oven for this experience. If you don't have a microwave, you can use a pot. (In that case, it will take a longer time)

Flow of the day
1. Dough making (30 minutes)
2. Coloring of the dough(15 minutes)
3. Shaping the dough (2 pieces) (45 minutes)

Depending on the progress, it may take about 30 minutes longer.
Other things to note
The guest needs to buy or make the white bean paste in advance before joining the experience. You will also need to have the necessary materials and tools. We will use the microwave to make the dough. If you do not have a microwave oven, you can make it in a pot. This lesson is also available as an observer. If you cannot prepare the material, you can also use clay to mold it.
If you can't buy the white bean paste, I will send you the recipe and tutorial video, so please make it yourself.

It can be held with a start time of 10 am to 11 pm JST. You can put in a request if you do not see the suitable time for your time zone.

Each participating person must buy a ticket unless you are a parent assisting your child. (The ticket is not per device)

The class was amazing. Miyuki was willing to go at the pace we needed and re showed us anything we were having difficulties with. Her instructions were really clear and she was very supportive and positive our attempts. We came away with two great Wagashi samples and the skills to try this again. I will definitely be booking another class with Miyuki. Thank you Miyuki, I had a great time and really enjoyed learning the new skills.

Amazing !!! Miyuki is such a detailed teacher, so kind and patient. Her instructions are so easy to follow, and it’s great that I can have her look at my dough each step of the way — so she can adjust my technique. I never thought I could make something so beautiful! I received so many compliments from family and friends!! After taking two wagashi classes with Miyuki I definitely feel I’m getting the hang of the technique, and can’t wait to see what Miyuki has in store for future classes!
