What you'll do

Five hundred years of well-preserved history have made the Cuban capital a must-visit city to people willing to enhance their knowledge about the world. This experience will allow you to approach its historic center from three different perspectives. First, a historical-cultural perspective will help you understand the origins and evolution of Havana, the main characteristics of its inhabitants, and the social structure of Cuban society. Secondly, an architectural approach will permit you to identify the particular mixture of different styles, including the simplicity of Mudejar art, the peculiarity of Cuban baroque, the majesty of Neoclassicism, and the impressive ornamentation of Art Nouveau. The third perspective is focused on the restoration process of the territory, and the social labor carried out by the Historian Office of Havana to maintain the concept of a “living city.” This experience is the perfect choice for those who have never visited the historic center of Havana, or for those wanting to deepen their understanding of this marvelous city.

My guide, Dariel, was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. It was an intimate group of two and so he took his time with us. If you are booking your trip to Havana, I suggest you put this early in your itinerary so you can get some history, culture and suggestions on places to go/eat. Dariel is so passionate about his country and culture which was the highlight of the tour. Learned so much!

Increíble experiencia, sobre todo cercana y real. El tour se extendió largamente por nuestras preguntas y sin embargo nuestra guía nos dijo que lo hacía con gusto

Our tour was with Neivy, a colleague of Alfonso's, and she was wonderful. She's a professor of linguistics so her English was terrific (as are, I expect, her other languages). She gave us great attention, personalized responses and was very patient with our frequent digressions and interruptions which we couldn't help because her information was so comprehensive and interesting. She went far above and beyond and showed us a variety of cultural, historical and civic sites, maintaining our rapt interest and personal connection throughout. We were to also do a tour of her hometown, but had to cancel due to CV. We loved this intro to Havana, and would recommend her without reservation.
