Did you know that there's a thriving agricultural community along a canal near Bangkok?

Less than an hour away, you can get in touch with local farmers and be a part of their lives for a day in Nakhon Pathom!

I was born and raised my whole life along the Mahasawat Canal, and I've seen what's changed throughout the years, and also the traditions and practices that remain.

*Come with me to Nakhon Pathom, and this is how you'll spend your day!*

1.) Arrive at a local temple and hop on a boat to tour over the canal. (the boat operates by Wat Suwannaram Temple)
2.) We'll then switch to a paddle boat to check out the local lotus farm and admire the natural beauty of the place. You'll also learn how to fold lotus leaves into beautiful shapes.
3.) We'll go to a local village called Baan Saladin Village. Here, you'll learn how to make Thai rice crispies.
4.) See how locals make the nutritious Gac Fruit juice from a local recipe
5.) Take a tractor ride through a rice field and fruit farm, where you'll get to taste some fruits too.
6.) Have lunch the local way

So if this sounds like a relaxing day out for you, just let me, your friendly local expert show you a good time!

Sa-Was-Dee-Krub (Hello! in Thai). I’m Taro, a co-founder of TakeMeTour. My goal is to host travelers from around the world with the best authentic experience in Thailand like never before (yes, believe me!).

Chai, my best co-host will take you on this trip. He was born and raised near the waters of Mahasawat Canal his whole life, so he's seen many changes to the communities and their livelihoods throughout the years. He'll take you to Nakhon Pathom (near Bangkok) on a boat trip along the canal to show you a beautiful lotus pond along with opening your eyes to a local agricultural community not many people know of.

Come along with Chai, and you will know that there are other interesting hidden places to explore only a few minutes away from Bangkok!

My family and I enjoyed this trip so much! Lovely experience with a lovely host! I loved that we got to visit this local community along the canal. We loved paddling the little boat in the lotus pond and picking up lotuses! We got to eat loads of things like crispy rice, gag fruit juice and lots of fruits! They’re all very tasty! It really was a fun day out! And a very unique experience!

We learned how to fold a lotus from a local and it turned our great! (I just can’t believe myself! Lol) And we got on the tractor to see the rice field and fruit farm. It was super fun on the tractor! Highly recommend it!

Mr chai was super knowledgeable, eloquent and very proficient in English. We immediately felt connected to him :) and the people we met a long the way treated us with great hospitality. They gave us a lotus flower and taught us to fold it, demonstrated how to make crispy rice and provided samples of red melon juice and peaflower juice and sliced fruits. At the lotus farm, they paddled a small boat to bring us around the lotus pond. At the orchard, we got onto a tracker to tour the place including paddy fields. Do buy the crispy rice with meat floss. There are no preservatives and you can’t get them in supermarkets. What a lovely experience!

Chai was super friendly and welcoming! We could not have asked for a better experience as it was authentic, efficient and in stunning settings. We got to immerse in this local community we visited and experience how people live a long the canel! and he was also very flexible since we booked the tour the night before and he managed to make it work on short notice. He made us feel at ease from the start and we’ll be back for more next year for sure, strongly recommend :slightly_smiling_face:

Chai is a wonderful guy who was always eager to let us spend time wherever we wanted to. The tour was a good insight into the sustainable farming effort of Royal Thai institutions. The trip on the Mahusawat canal was more than worth the journey to get there and then each of the stops was equally exciting. We saw farming of lotus, gac fruit, pomelo and rice. We met wonderful people on the way. All of them were very hospitable offering us treats along the way. I highly recommend this tour!! Thank you Sakchai for a wonderful afternoon!
