Francesinha is the most famous sandwich in Porto and you can find one in almost every corner of the city, but NOT like this one!

Let me teach you how to make the most authentic and all the story behind it! This is a family recipe with a lot of years, very cherished and impossible to get anywhere else!

We'll meet at my parents restaurant who will be ready to have us with fresh ingredients, and the whole room only for ourselves!

We will cook the sauce from scratch and we will assemble the sandwiches while I teach you some of the great history behind this tasteful sandwich and some fun facts about how locals can't resist a good francesinha.

Last but not least, we will have a cold Super Bock - our best local beer while eating this massive goodness! Are you ready?

The ingredients of the sandwiches are mainly pork sausages, ham, cheese, bread and egg.

The sauce has meat stock and alcohol.

We booked the Nata and the Francesinha Class at the same time. In advance we had a excellent contact to Joana to clear all the details. Because of our tight schedule and because we were the only students on this day we were able to do both dishes parallelly. Joana was a perfect host and explained everything perfectly. Even for me as a cooking and baking rookie it was easy to follow the instructions and learn to prepare the Natas and Francesinhas with basic ingredients. We even learned how to prepare the puff pastry by our own. With the combination of Francesinha and Nata we had a perfect meal at the end. Furthermore I would like to thank Joana for the great time we were allowed to spend with her. We had a great conversation during the meal and just hanging around a little bit. She gave us some more advices for our time in Porto. Unfortunately it was our last day. I can’t say what would be the right way - start the time in Porto with the classes to enjoy Joanas advices or use the classes as a great closing for the trip. But I am sure that everybody should do this classes during the stay in Porto. Muito obrigado!

The experience was excellent. Joana was very accommodating with my last minute booking for myself and two friends. I learnt so much about Tripiero culture. I can tell that Joana has been doing this experience for a while, she has it down to a fine art and everyone was equally included in making and experiencing the dish. The dish itself was delicious, a surprisingly delicate balance of flavours and myself and my friends thoroughly enjoyed making it. Can recommend to anyone!

This experience was fun, hands on and very enjoyable. Considering some places are selling these sandwiches for 12 euros this was a brilliant way to try the local cuisine with whole heap of culture throw in!
