What you'll do

Our E bike experience will allow you to explore the beautiful scenery and history of the Sirhowy Valley area with the amazing power of our pedal assisted electric mountain bikes.

After an introduction to the E bikes and instruction on how to use them, when everyone is comfortable and happy with their bike we set off on our adventure.

We will start out on quiet lanes heading to the top of Mynyddislwyn and its medieval church, then decend to the local village, where we access Cwmcarn Forrest via a hidden route and follow forrest roads to the top of Mynydd Maen (views of Twmbarlwm a 2000 old Iron Age fort and spectacular views of the Bristol Channel and surrounding area). There will be a short stop here to have a rest , take in the views and refuel with your own snacks and drinks. We then enjoy an exhilarating ride down to the visitor centre followed by a relaxing ride home following the canal path and a disused railway line.

The E bikes make it all good fun, they are Eco Friendly (batteries charged by solar panels)

The terrain is tarmac lanes, gravel forest roads and some single track.

Refreshments will be available on return and we can share stories and photos from the day, you will leave with a completely new perspective on the area, new friends and wanting to get yourself an E bike!!
Other things to note
Must be able to ride a bicycle with confidence.
Gradient is varied with some steep climbs, the E bike will assist you with this, however, a reasonable level of fitness is required.
Please feel free to contact us to discuss your requirements.

I live on a small holding, in the Sirhowy Valley, South Wales, running a successful holiday let with my wife Olwen and our array of assorted pets e.g. horses, dogs, cats, chickens and goats.

I have lived here all my life and been cycling for over 40 years, to my surprise I am still discovering new trails.
Our two sons Harry and Robert share our enthusiasm for the area and cycling , they are both mountain bike leaders , first aid qualified and insured ,they will often accompany or lead the rides.

I have a passion for the hidden beauty and industrial heritage of our area, I have great pleasure introducing people to theses hidden gems, and imparting my knowledge of our industrial heritage.

I am MBLA level 2 mountain bike leader
Qualified first aider

This was an amazing day for myself, wife and son. Barrie had been very responsive during the booking process and had made meeting up with him easy and clear. Both he and Olwen welcomed us very warmly, explained the way the eBikes worked very well and we set off. The eBikes are top quality Cube bikes with Bosch motors, and made riding effortless. Olwen went beyond what was expected to make my wife comfortable with the bike and riding. Otherwise, i don't think she would have been able to do the full ride. The itinerary was fantastic - beautiful countryside, and Barrie had lots of stories and historical information about the places we saw. We all had an exhilarating and beautiful day.

I’m into biking and have my own electric bike but booked it as a day out for me and my other half. While I took my own bike, the bikes they provided were of great quality and much better spec than I expected. The girlfriend didn’t have as much experience of bikes as me, but they worked with her to help her along the way. While sadly the weather wasn’t on our side (completely wet through with puddles of water in my boots haha) the ride itself was still much better than I’d expected. If the weather had have been on our side the views would have been amazing. Barry & Olwen were lovely and made us feel so welcome. If you book on a trip you won’t go far wrong. We will def look to return, hopefully when the suns out!!

Very do-able with the e in the bike taking most the strain, if you know how to ride don’t be put off by the distance and you really won’t feel the hills much, spectacular scenery, mostly traffic free, a bit of history, I would do it again and bring friends.

Had the most wonderful day out with a few friends, and witnessed some incredibly scenic sights. It was all our first time e-biking, and Barrie made it such an accessible experience with his guidance. We got to go up some really steep hills (with minimal effort), and enjoy some speedily descents, as well as through a few forest trails. The views were spectacular, and we learnt a lot about local welsh history, stopping every so often at important sites. I can't recommend this experience enough!

This was a really special experience. We started off with really clear instruction from Barrie and then left at steady pace, building confidence on route. The ebikes were fantastic. They make going up a hill feel like it’s nothing! They are in great working order and well looked after. I felt totally safe the whole way round. The views and scenery are breathtaking and Barrie’s knowledge of the local area is in depth and fascinating. We had an option to take a biking trail down and it was lots of fun. Barrie was super patient with us and helped us when it got a bit tricky. If want the experience of mountain biking but perhaps can’t quite manage cycling up a mountain this is for you! I fully recommend it!! Thanks Barrie and Harry for a fantastic day out :)
