What you'll do

As part of Qatar Museums, our co-host Museum of Islamic Art offers unique specialized visit with the experts. We will meet with one of our expert guides at museum's reception and explore the fascinating Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) building, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect I.M. Pei.

The museum building stands alone on reclaimed land and draws much influence from ancient Islamic architecture.

You will be fascinated by the atrium and a curved double staircase leading up to the first floor. Above it floats an ornate circular metal chandelier echoing the curve of the staircase. An oculus, at the top of the atrium, captures and reflects patterned light within the faceted dome. The five-storey 45-metre tall window on the north side gives spectacular panoramic views across the bay. The geometric patterns of the Islamic world adorn the spaces, including the ceilings of the elevators.

We will take you on a tour of museum's permanent collection that represents the full scope and diversity of Islamic art dating from the 7th through to the 19th century and includes manuscripts, ceramics, metal, glass, ivory textiles, woods and precious stones collected from three continents, including countries across the Middle East, and reaching as far as Spain and India.

We will finish the tour in the amazing atrium where you can enjoy the MIA gift shop and our Doha-skyline-view cafe
