What you'll do

Discover what it's like to run an 8 acre tropical fruit farm in paradise! You'll use all our senses on a walking tour of Lokoea Farms. We'll give you some history of the farm and the area, and guide your exploration of our 3 orchards to learn about the ethnobotany and horticulture of Hawai‘i's unique fruit trees and harvest some fruits in season. Get ready to marvel at our vanilla plants and smell the aroma of our vanilla beans. You'll even get to help feed our hilarious chickens, and collect their rainbow-colored eggs.

Then it's time for our picnic! We'll relax on the lawn or at the picnic table overlooking the gorgeous orchid-filled gardens while you eat your fill of farm-grown exotic tropical fruit and nuts - the freshest, most delicious, and perfectly in season delicacies. We'll teach you how to use our coconut husker to open up a coconut. Nothing store-bought can compare to the amazing flavor of coconut water and meat from a just-picked nut. You'll even use our special nutcracker to experience the rich flavor of our macadamia nuts.
Other things to note
Wear closed-toe shoes, a hat, and sunscreen. We do not have a public restroom at the farm. Starbucks or McDonalds in Haleiwa have public restrooms. You may want to bring bug spray and water bottle.

A 6th generation local, Noe grew up on the land where the farm is now, back when it was surrounded by sugarcane, and Hale‘iwa was still a sleepy little plantation town. After spending some time on the mainland, she returned to her hometown to help her family run the farm. She's learned a lot about tropical fruit and citrus in the last three years, and the struggling little business is now financially sustainable and provides her with a full-time job. Like our trees, Noe has deep roots in this special place.

Kekai is the first non-family employee at Lokoea Farms. When he's not working here, he's studying ‘Olelo Hawai‘i (Hawaiian language) and Malama ‘Aina (sustainability) at the University of Hawaii. His enthusiasm is contagious and he's a master at husking coconuts.

We love our farm, and we'd love to share it with you.

Where you'll be

Lokoea Farms is eight beautiful acres nestled in the Anahulu River Valley, at the base of impressive Mt. Ka‘ala. Just off the main highway, we are easy to find, but just far enough from the hustle and bustle of Hale‘iwa town. It's our little slice of paradise, filled with exotic trees, gorgeous orchids, and lots of peace and quiet.

Me and a friend went while visiting and it was a wonderful time. We really enjoyed seeing the variety of fruits that noe was growing. I had never realized that we grew citrus in Hawaii but now I can't get enough of it, her oranges are delicious! All of the fruits, mac nuts, and mangos were delicious and we had a great time asking questions and checking out the farm.

This is a great way to experience more of the local life off of the beach. You get a better sense of what it is like living on an island. Great way to get a more in depth look at various Hawaiian produce and tasting the fruit is FANTASTIC! Highly recommend!

Our group loved the tour! It was thoughtful of the guide to provide bug spray as none of us had any. The guide was very knowledgeable. We enjoyed fruit picking & time at the end to eat them.

My husband and I had a great time! Noe was very welcoming and had made our experience one to remember. Be prepared to come a little hungry because the picnic at the end is the best! Yum!

My partner and I were hosted by Kyle. He was a wonderful host, and have us so much insight into want tropical fruit farming looks like, not to mention educate is on number of fruits we've never even heard of. Both Kyle and his furry friend made us feel so welcome and at home. Definately an experience everyone visiting O'ahu should have.
