What you'll do

The walk we will take includes the Quattro Canti which is the main square of the historic center, the fountain of Piazza Pretoria known as the fountain of shame, the Church of Santa Maria dell'Ammiraglio known as the Martorana with its sparkling golden ceiling and the church of San Cataldo characterized by its three red domes.
We will then take a coffee break in the confectionery of the ancient monastery of Santa Caterina where you can taste typical sweets such as cannolo.
Then we will go to the Cathedral, a schedule of the different architectural styles that have embellished the city from the twelfth century to the nineteenth century.
Finally we will see the Royal Palace, also known as Palazzo dei Normanni, where you can admire the jewel of this visit, the Palatine Chapel. This place contains Byzantine mosaics on a gold background with the stories of the Old and New Testaments, the floor with geometric marble motifs and the Arabic wooden muqarnas ceiling, the only example of its kind.
The visit will end at Villa Bonanno.
Other things to note
Autonomously, once the walk is over, in the historic center of Palermo it is possible to stay on site to have lunch with local street food based on arancine, sandwiches with chickpea panelle, potato croquettes, sfincione, brioche with ice cream, granite. For the more daring there is the sandwich with the spleen.

Where you'll be

A walk dedicated to the artistic and cultural beauties of the city of Palermo recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
In the visit to the Arab-Norman monuments I will offer the opportunity to compare the twelfth century Palermo to a modern metropolis for the coexistence of different cultures and religions at that time.
