What you'll do

We will be visiting Patapsco Valley State Park, outside Old Ellicott City, to explore the abandoned and flooded mill town named Daniels. Our hike will be mostly on trail, but we may head (safely!) off trail as well to visit lone structures. The tour's starting point will be Alberton Rocks Trailhead. Please keep in mind that parking is tight! We will pass by the beautiful nature Patapsco has to offer, focusing on the rubble of what remains from Daniels. That includes an old church and graveyard, destroyed homes that belonged to past residents, and worn down stone structures. We will also visit a hidden graffiti site where artists paint the huge walls with portraits and names. Guests will have the opportunity to listen and discuss about the history of Daniels. Near the end of the hike, we may stop at the actively operating mill to witness the harmful effects of factories and the likes in our environment before heading back to our original starting point.

Where you'll be

On our hike, we will follow the rocky mountainside and riverside of Patapsco River. To begin history, we will observe the abandoned rubble of Daniels; their hidden neighborhood and place of worship. Then, we may head towards a hidden graffiti spot where artists paint beautiful portraits along the abandoned building. After heading back to our original meet-up, we may discuss and end with a hearty meal for all hikers in a nearby restaurants.
