What you'll do

Have a curious mind? Come join us in our historic experience and discover what Porto has to offer besides the standard touristic sites!

Let's travel through time, nine centuries back to when Porto was a medieval town.

In this three hour tour, we will show you the oldest part of the city and share its stories with you and secrets that shaped the city to its present state.

We will bring you to old monasteries, churches, and other unique landmarks of Porto.

You will understand why the city is called the "Invicta", and how we helped Portugal during its Age of Seafaring Discoveries, the Napoleonic Invasions. What led to the siege of the city during Portugal’s civil war of the 19th Century.

Half way through our route we will stop in one of our favorite "cafés" to take a break and enjoy a nice "expresso", Portuguese style.

In the end we’d be more than happy to share our best tips about Porto: where to eat, drink or shop!

We will be very happy to welcome you into this historic Porto experience!

Due to safety and health precautions our tours have less spots available. Only 8 guests are permitted. We ask everyone to bring a mask to the walk. We will provide one in case you forget to bring your own.
Other things to note
Bring comfortable shoes, water and a camera to capture the fantastic moments I will do my best to provide

Hello we are João, Afonso and Carlota! Three friends very passionate about Porto and all the good things this city has to offer! We share a passion for Porto´s History in all it´s different times, circumstances and layers. Of course, each has its own preferences when it comes to talk about things…culture, biology, art, architecture, food, travel, History, music… you name it! That´s why we get along and complement each other so well!

Carlota was the mastermind of this tour. After graduating in History she decided to dedicate her life to share with guests from abroad the unknown story of the city. With the help of João and Afonso she started doing it with success!

We would love to share all the hidden places, fantastic stories and cool secrets of this old medieval city with you!

Where you'll be

We will explore Porto centre and its hidden streets and narrow alleys, from Sé neighborhood to Ribeira, and the popular "Baixa" (Downtown). Meanwhile you will see famous places like Porto´s Cathedral, D. Luís Bridge, Bolsa Palace, Clérigos Tower and Livraria Lello. I will tell you some curiosities about these buildings, for sure!

This tour was definitely one of a kind. Carlota is more than a tour guide. She a historian who brings the history of Porto to life as only a well versed expert could. Our tour gave us a sense of just how the city grew over the centuries. As we wound our way along steep and narrow streets,Carlota’s narrative painted a vibrant picture of the city she calls home. After our tour, she sent each of us a text recap including bars, restaurants, wine tasting spots and other points for us to visit at our leisure. A few of us took advantage of these recommendations and got together later that night for more food and festivity. If you only have time for one tour in Porto, this is definitely the one to take. I can’t recommend this highly enough.

Hands down one of the best tours I’ve ever taken in any city. This is more than just a tour, I feel like I truly understand this city and why the culture is the way it is today. Carlota did a phenomenal job taking us through the city explaining all sorts of history and giving tons of personal details along the way. Her passion for Portuguese history and culture bleeds out of her and is proven with not only university studies but in the way she teaches us about each area of the city. Porto is a hilly city, but she found a way to make it more than manageable. Our tour group bombarded Carlota with all sorts of questions from best food and wine to places for shopping. She went above and beyond and gave detailed answers to everything. The 3 hours flew by! I could have followed her around all day long. Book this!! And book this towards the beginning of your trip because she will leave with you many places to check out! Thank you times a million Carlota!!

We had a diverting three-hours-tour around the center of Porto. Carlota gave us super recommendations for bars and restaurants and took us to a place with delicious and affordable pasteis de nata. She is a very good guide. Recommended.

Carlota provides a wonderful walking tour into areas and neighborhoods we would never have seen. She know her history and is filled with stories that make the city come alive. She is a most friendly and engaging guide.

Carlotas tour took us to parts of Porto that I would not have seen on my own and her narration gave a real insight to the city through the ages!
