What you'll do
I will welcome you at our shop, BIRGU BLUE, where the workshop will be held. The ambience is that of a traditional artesan space, equipped with a 100-year-old wooden carpenter's bench, where you will sit with me so that I can take you through the process of design, basic pattern making, tips on choosing your leather and the build of your leather accessory which you will then take home with you. The workshop is assisted with a projected onscreen presentation. Refreshing tea is offered to the workshop participants. Individual attention is provided with a maximum of 3 participants per workshop. Tools and materials are provided. For this season, you can choose to make a bracelet (metal accessory included), a hand-stitched bookmark, or an espresso cup holder (a glass espresso cup included). Please check the photo gallery.

My name is Ozzy Chien and I was born in Taipei, Taiwan, and now co-run a concept store called BIRGU BLUE in Malta, which features stunning hand-made items. I am a fashion designer with a Master’s degree in Accessory Design from the prestigious Accademia di Costume e di Moda in Rome. My style fuses Taiwanese-Japanese minimalism and European design, with practical functionality in mind.
“Being an artisan defines me; it’s all about inner peace.
When I concentrate on stitching, I go into a world of silence, and focus only on the two needles and one thread. Any worries are temporarily forgotten. I want to share this incredible feeling with you, and would like to apply the skills involved to fabricate your own leather accessories with your own hands.
