We visited Toronto on a weekend when the GTA received more snow than it had in 2024. We used public transit and rented an AirBnb room in Little Italy, a great location with a horrible host. It had nothing to do with Nancy but we were on edge because of our bad experience. Public transportation was delayed or not running. Sidewalks were snow covered. Nancy messaged to say she would be late. She had left her home an hour early while 9-months pregnant to try to be on time. She was. She found us hiding in the pharmacy at Dundas and Spadina and took us on a tour of international gems we would have never found without her expertise, from soup-fillled Chinese dumplings to Ban Mhi from Vietnam, Japanese ocopus balls and Mexican tacos. We ended with coffee and dessert, a no-bake British Columbian delicacy. Nancy knew her neighborhood, and merchants, well. Only one restaurant was closed because of weather. We would do the tour again, in nicer weather, with Nancy. You should too.
