What you'll do

Waterfall Warrior is supposed to be an empowering experience & rewarding accomplishment. People anywhere from 6 - 70 years can most likely find uggles of joy here.

Visitors are welcomed to the grounds of my family's hobby farm by our horses (Shy Girl, Nohea, and Cher) and myself. I like to go in with a short tour of our fruit-laden orchard before heading into the stream. Letting guests pick seasonal fresh fruits and flowers as souvenirs.

Setting out for Haakoa Stream following a nature trail that is suitable for most active hikers. The first stop on our experience will be a large swimming hole at the base of the tallest waterfall; where you can tune into Nature and discover the best kind of cave; hidden under the falls. Such a powerful place.

From here we will traverse up and around the bend to the next gorgeous spot called the Grotto Pool. A natural swimming hole with stone faces featuring a plunging curtain waterfall that you can stand behind. Instagram worthy.

If you are up for it we can go up the "karma trail" and see the ancient Hawaiian terrace ghost town. I do my best to share meaningful tidbits of my knowledge, interest, and insight with guests. Talking story Hawaii style.

I will lead guests along the natural stream, following more of a natural route than a trail itself; traversing hidden stream reaches, to waterfalls and natural swimming.

Aloha, I’m Ashley!
I've guided ages 6 to 60 on this route.
A local expert born and raised on the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii. I consider myself to be a responsible, fun, and gregarious person.

My Airbnb experience started in 2017, from hosting https://airbnb.com/h/alohanaturelovers and https://airbnb.com/h/horsesandwaterfalls. To this day unique off-the-beaten-track tourism continues to be my passion.

I really enjoy meeting interesting people, who are self-proclaimed nature lovers, who appreciate the authentic side of Hawaii. My priorities are to find the point of peaceful joyfulness and invigorating excitement of every traveler always looking to remain inspired by neat places and fun moments.

It makes me happy to show visitors the real side of Hawaii that is completely unlike quelled mainstream tourism.

Where you'll be

Papaaloa Homesteads .45 minutes to Hilo. 1 1/2 hours from Kona. Start and finish on a private park-like property that offers easy access down to a jungle stream. From here we will explore a hidden reach of Haakoa Stream, blessed with waterfalls & natural swimming holes! **AWD/4WD vehicle needed the last 800 yards of the UNPAVED road. If you’re not comfortable driving there, a safe shoulder parking spot is just a 5- minute walk away.

Ashley was super thoughtful with the experience! She provided water shoes, didn't rush things and even went over the allotted time, and allowed me to mold the experience to whatever I wanted it to be. Although I got a few mosquito bites along the way, it was all worth it and I would 100% do it again.
