What you'll do
Explore The Cotswolds in style with your own Blue Badge Guide. Learn things that only a local would know and experience the English countryside like you never imagined.
I will meet you in central Oxford where we will begin our day outside the famous Bodleian Library. I will tell you about the University’s fine buildings, its history and alumni. We will then board the minibus, passing through the Science Area on the way out of town. We reach The Cotswolds at the lovely village of Burford after 30 minutes or so. We will learn all about what makes the area so special, with its gentle hills, honey-coloured villages and historic wool industry. From Burford we follow the River Windrush to picturesque Bourton-on-the Water, and from there take minor roads to iconic Broadway Tower, with lunch in the café or a nearby village pub. A climb up the tower reveals one of the most magnificent views in England, stretching as far as the Welsh borders. After that it's a short drive down to Chipping Campden before heading back towards Oxford, stopping on the way at the hilltop village of Stow-on-the-Wold where we can have afternoon tea and a look at something associated with the Hobbits. Last stop before Oxford is Woodstock where we will get a stunning view of Blenheim Palace and I’ll tell you all about Winston Churchill and Capability Brown.
Other things to note
Food and entry to paid attractions are not included in the price of the tour. Broadway Tower costs £4.00 per person.

I am a tour guide based in the beautiful city of Oxford, where I have lived for almost 30 years. Qualified as a Blue Badge Guide, the UK’s highest guiding qualification, I give walking tours locally and run tours into the Heart of England region and beyond, in my own private-hire minibus.
I have a background in travel publishing and photography, love the great outdoors, am passionate about history, and feel just as much at home with industrial heritage as ancient stone circles. I also happen to be a descendant of the Banbury Gullivers, whose graves in St Mary’s churchyard, Banbury, inspired Jonathan Swift to a name for his famous protagonist. So why not embark on your own journey of discovery, and enjoy the unforgettable experience of travelling from Oxford into the Cotswolds, the quintessential English countryside.

Where you'll be
We'll be starting in Oxford before heading west into the northern Cotswolds, which take in west Oxfordshire and the neighbouring counties of Gloucestershire and Warwickshire. We'll be passing through lots of villages, most notably Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water, Broadway, Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold and Woodstock, with regular stops to go walkabout, sample local fare and enjoy the views.

My experience with Tony was amazing! He is such a friendly and talkative man.
He has so much knowledge about The Cotswolds and Oxford and the way he explains the whole history with excitement and details make you feel quite interested in history even if you aren’t a big fan of it.
Also, the van is pretty comfortable, which is important since you will spend a lot of hours on it.
I was lucky to have a “private” tour and quite enjoyed all the topics we have talked about during the trip.
Would definitely recommend him to everyone. I’m sure you will enjoy the tour as much as I did :)
