What you'll do
I will explain the bookbinding / gilding profession to you and show you around my charming little workshop, in the heart of the historical village of Marsannay-la-Côte.
By detailing you (by concrete examples which will pass between your hands) the stages of the realization of a binding from A to Z, you will discover my beautiful machines of the end of the XIXth and beginning of the XXth century and their use still appropriate , will be able to handle the noble materials used for the realization of a binding (leather, gold, parchment ...), and will attend demonstrations of savoir-faire (gilding with gold leaf, book sewing on hemp twine ...). The whole visit will be under the sign of History, because the binding has evolved over the centuries: you can therefore have on your hands some old books, and understand the evolution of techniques since the Middle Ages by comparing them to modern examples.
The personalization of a leather bookmark will close the visit (by me ... or you if you want)
And of course, all questions and exchanges will be welcome!
Other things to note
Novice or already expert, you are welcome: books are for everyone!

In love with bookbinding since 2000, I have been a bookbinder since 2004. I like to share this passion: I have given lessons, internships, and have made visits of my workshop for over 15 years. It is a way to transmit, but also to learn from others (and to have company in my life as a craftswoman!) I've always been very careful, demanding and concentrated, and that's essential qualities in my job. It is therefore an high quality learning and presentation that I offer you. It's my turn to show the magic of bookbinding to my visitors during the visits of my representative pretty workshop in the charming borough of Marsannay-la-Côte, during the courses to learn how to make his own notebook, or during demonstrations of gilding with gold leaf ...
I of course adapt the offer to the audience (age, language, abilities ...)

Where you'll be
We do not always dare to enter the shop of a craftsman ... It's now or never!
My workshop, renovated in the spirit of ecology (dry toilets, wood fiber insulation, recovery of old materials ... Which made me earn a Stars et Métiers prize), will charm you with its old style.
Books, materials inherited from workshops to workshops, weathered tools will reveal all their secrets.
