What you'll do

Meeting point is on the Julianabrug, Zaandijk. On the bridge we have a spectacular view on the windmills of the Zaanse Schans. The duration of the tour is two hours. Do you prefer another meeting point, for example Amsterdam Central Station, or train station Zaandijk-Zaanse Schans please contact me.
I will show you the houses in beautiful Zaans green and you can take a look at the first store of Albert Heijn (1887). First we walk to the clog maker. You will see a demonstration making clogs/wooden shoes. Then we go to the cheese factory where a demonstration and explanation is given, and of course we are going to taste cheese. At last we walk to the windmills and it is possible to visit "De Kat" paint mill, for example. If you want to visit another windmill, this is also possible. Entrance fee (not included) per windmill € 5.00 per adult, € 2.50 per child.
Finally, I will take you back to the starting point of the tour.

Hello, my name is Diana. All my life I live near the Zaanse Schans. During my school days I cycled daily over the Zaanse Schans and I always saw enthusiastic tourists there. At that time I already thought it would be nice to share my knowledge and tell about the history of the windmills, the cheese factory, the clog maker and the houses on the Zaanse Schans. In other words, tell about the very rich history of the Zaan region.

Our tour with Diana was really great. You can clearly see, that she loves Zaanse Schans and knows the place and people very well. She was really welcoming, had a lot of interesting things to tell about the mills and the history of the town. We learned a lot and had a loooot of cheese :D Diana's tour is the right thing to choose, if you look for something personal outsideof the common tourist tours!

Diana’s tour was great! It was just the right amount of time to explore the beautiful windmills and hear the stories behind them. Diana is from the area so she is an expert on the area. She was able to answer all of our questions without hesitation. Although we could’ve walked thru the area without a guide, we never would’ve had the wonderful stories and facts to go along with what we were seeing. I definitely recommend this tour.
