What you'll do

Welcome to Charleston, well known as a drinking city with a slight history problem! With this in mind guests will meet at the initial bar location where some complimentary appetizers will be served and guests will have the opportunity to purchase some local craft beer or cocktails while the guides (Adam or Bryan) go over a brief personal introduction and history of the City of Charleston. From there guests will walk to predetermined historic sites around the French Quarter including one of the oldest homes in Charleston. Brief stories and accurate historical insight from a licensed guide will cover a period stemming from the early colonial days all the way through World War II including topics on the revolutionary/civil war, pirate attacks, and of course alcohol in this famous city. This is not a typical "sit there and shut up tour" but rather an opportunity to engage with your licensed guide! Guests will be able to seek a brief respite at the next dive bar location for another small complimentary appetizer and a particular focus will be given to the period of prohibition in Charleston as a city rife with bootleggers, speakeasies, and "Blind Tigers." The tour will finish at a stunningly beautiful local park in close proximity to other area bars and restaurants since many guests just don't want the history and hops tour to end!
Other things to note
It gets hot/humid in the summer. As this is walking tour please be able to comfortably walk 2 miles. Guests with walking difficulty should avoid this tour as we do go over cobblestone/ brick/ small alleyways.

Captain Bryan is a 7th generation Charlestonian of Huguenot Heritage. A people that would have been among the first settlers of this historic city. As a charter captain, licensed tour guide, public servant (historic commission), and former senior analyst; Captain Bryan is the perfect guide with which to explore the city.

Adam Moore lives just over the bridge on James Island with his wife and son. In 2015 he quit a management job and transitioned back to his roots as a history major by becoming a licensed guide. As a veteran tour guide, he has met guests from all around the world and believes giving tours is both an honor and a pleasure.

Both of these guides have a thirst for not only history but also local watering holes which correlates to a unique experience for guests to the area. Come join Adam or Bryan and "live the local life."

Bryan was an amazing tour guide! He is so personable and engaging, and also very knowledgeable about Charleston’s history. My favorite parts were Bryan’s many stories relating to the stops we visited. Definitely would recommend Bryan to anyone wanting to have a good time while learning!

This experience is worth. every. penny. Brian is super informative, sharing his experiences & expert knowledge of CHS & SC history. Several stories I imagine could be made into movies, such as Junius Brutus Booth (the father of John Wilkes Booth) and Robert Smalls. After this tour, to say that life can be stranger than fiction, would a gross understatement. Thanks Brian for sharing your time, knowledge, & expertise in crafting an unforgettable history tour of Charleston!

Bryan is a top notch tour guide. He keeps the conversations going so you can just kick back and enjoy the tour. Would recommend to anyone visiting Charleston for the first time, and to anyone who has been before but wants some in depth history of the French Quarters.

Bryan did a great job with our tour! He not only was very knowledgeable of the history in Charleston, but he also had great recommendations for restaurants and bars in the area. He was also very accommodating since we had 2 people back out of our trip last minute, and he was willing to still give us a refund. We had a larger group and took longer at some of our stops, and Bryan was very patient. He even extended the tour 45 minutes since we were running behind. Would recommend this tour to anyone!
