What you'll do

Experience Table Mountain's tranquil side - explore the secluded Woody Ravine route up the Twelve Apostles and avoid the crowds that frequent the mountain.

Hike through indigenous mountain forest and Fynbos flowers, admire amazing rock formations of the iconic Twelve Apostles sandstone and enjoy the adventurous climb up the gorge. A cup of local Rooibos tea and blue ocean spread out beneath your feet - that’s what awaits, when we reach the top. And arguably the most beautiful view of Camps Bay from anywhere!
Other things to note
Some level of fitness is required for this hike, but it is not strenuous.
Please ensure you have comfortable hiking shoes, warm clothes, sunblock and a hat.
Due to unpredictable weather patterns, please allow some flexibility with regards to timing and dates.

My friends call me "bergbok" (mountain goat) because my favourite thing to do is to explore Table Mountain to find new hikes and secret locations. I love finding the perfect secluded spot where I can relax and immerse myself in nature - away from the popular routes and paths.
I'm a qualified and registered guide with first aid training and more than 10 years of mountain, hiking and outdoor experience throughout South Africa. I've hiked the mountains of the Cederberg, Winelands, Peninsula, Namibia, Drakensberg, Limpopo and beyond (South America, Turkey, Italy). I also have rock climbing, abseiling and mountain rescue experience.

Where you'll be

We'll visit the lesser-trodden Western slopes of Table Mountain. These are called the Twelve Apostles, and they offer a whole bunch of lush, deep gorges that can be explored in safety and privacy.

A tea ceremony on a flat vantage point overlooking Camps Bay in all its splendour, the view stretching from the historical Robben Island on the right to the 12 Apostles Hotel below left. An early departure guaranteed shade on the 40 minute walk and Luca shared interesting facts on the fynbos and the geological structure of Table Mountain. We veered off the trodden path to climb a few "steps" in order to watch her brew her tea while taking in Nature. Luca offered 3 teas, two indigenous - rooibos and buchu and one from South America - Yerba mate. A testimony to the combination of the tranquility, tea, view and a sense of well-being was that the party fell into a comfortable silence, each one connecting with him or herself. I am in my 60s and reasonably walkfit but Luca paid extra attention to guiding me up and down the "steps". Great for locals but also a must-do for tourists who want to experience a lot in a 3-hour experience. We were back at the starting point at 11:00 ready and refreshed to go for a brunch at one of the many bistros and restaurants along the Camps Bay stretch. Can't think of a better way to start a day!

A wonderful route along the slopes of Table Mountain, showing so much of what makes Cape Town beautiful in a short space of time... made unique by the "tea party" - at a peaceful spot which allowed us to take in the amazing views of the sea and the mountainside.

What a unique experience and perfect way to start a day! I learned a lot about the environment I didn’t know (even though I live in Cape Town). The view, the venue, the vibe and the tea was vibrant and special. I would love to do it again and to have Luca as a tour guide!

Our hike up Woody Ravine was magical! The lush, forested lower sections made way for beautiful Fynbos and magnificent views higher up. Luca clearly knows the mountain very well and I felt in good hands. I enjoyed her friendly, attentive presence and we had some great chats.
