What you'll do

We'll head out to the lower Florida Keys back-country where we'll fish for a variety of species such as Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, Shark, Barracuda, Snapper, Sea Trout and a plethora of others in the gin clear waters of the shallows and flats. There will only be the three of us so you'll have a personalized guided trip and my undivided attention whether your asking questions about our unique ecosystem and its surroundings or the techniques and equipment we'll be using to stalk and catch fish on the most fertile and pristine fishing grounds on planet Earth!

We'll typically be fishing depths of two feet to eight feet deep so the visual experience is like nowhere else in the continental United States.

Once we finish our excursion you'll be brought back to our original departure point and you can enjoy some some excellent island eats and tropical cocktails like the locals do at the famous Looe Key Tiki Bar & Grill on Ramrod Key. There's also a gift shop on property so you can pick up some souvenirs for yourself, friends or family members!

I’m a full time professional fishing guide/ charter captain and a full time resident of the lower Florida Keys. I’m a master licensed USCG captain and an accredited guide for the Lower Keys Guides Association, the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, the Bonefish Tarpon Trust and the Coastal Conservation Association Florida chapter.. I’ve been fishing the Florida Keys for over 35 years and have a vast knowledge of the waters and the fish that inhabit them.
You'll be fishing with me, this is not a charter service that books the trip and then brokers it out to any available captain they can find that day.
I guide in the flats and backcountry of the lower Florida Keys from Big Pine Key to Key West.
I own and operate a 22’ center console Panga and a 17’ Ankona technical poling skiff.

Where you'll be

You'll be in the back-country of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to some of the most diverse, protected and endangered species of marine and wildlife on the planet. Aside from the stunning scenery you may encounter Dolphin, Manatee or the endangered North American Saltwater Crocodile and the prehistoric Sawfish.
The wading birds are plentiful and some common residents are Egrets, Herron, & Roseate Spoonbills!

Jim was an awesome captain. He was very knowledgeable and worked with our experience levels. Taught us 3 different fishing techniques and brought to different destinations. Truly thankful to Captain Jim for a memorable 50th birthday

What a great guy! This was the best fishing trip I've had in years. Not to mention you get 5* treatment on and off the boat. I'm talking this guy rebaits your hooks takes care of all the fish cleans it all up nice and in a insulated cooler to bring home. You get the whole package along with gentle instruction so even a first timer like my wife was able to catch some great fish. We appreciated Jim's company and found a kindred spirit. Thanks bud!

Jim is an intelligent, reasonable captain and you should book your fishing trip with him. We didn’t get to fish much. The weather wasn’t in agreement. As it goes here in Florida the day starts beautiful and turns for the not so beautiful in an instant.

My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our fishing trip! We caught one barracuda, a yellow tail, several mutton snapper and our limit of mangrove snapper! Jim is very knowledgeable and shares his knowledge without being pushy. You can tell that he loves giving his clients the Lower Keys fishing experience! After we docked, we had lunch at the local tiki bar while Jim filleted our fish. He put the snapper on ice and put it in an insulated bag for us. We look forward to having it cooked at a local restaurant and it was SO delicious! Thank you Jim for giving us a great fishing experience!

The only thing that spoiled the day was the weather. Captain Jim wants the experience to be fun and enjoyable and we can tell he delivers, weather permitting.

Jim is a fantastic captain and really worked to get us the fish. Sadly, the whole week had had crappy weather so we didn't catch anything and had to go in early. Jim refunded some of the money and we felt he had tried his best to get us the best experience and not waste our money and time. We would try to go out again with him if we come back.
