What you'll do

On arrival at our stunning hillside venue, I'll guide you through the beginnings of orienteering. If you know what you're doing - great. If not, don't worry - i'll guide you through how to use the map, the compass, what to look out for - everything you need to know to get the most out of our orienteering course.

Then its time to go explore. The course is laid out on a private 180 acre hill farm with spectacular views, and (without giving too much away) includes an ascent to a summit with views for miles around.

If you've got little ones, there's the option to try a shorter course with clues to make it easier.

And because its on private land, there wont be dozens of other people around. Of course, a lack of people means an abundance of wildlife - guests regularly see deer, buzzards, hares, etc - and i'm always more than happy to help you to spot and identify the wildlife on site.

I'm the founder of Moving Mountains, an outdoor activity company based near Bristol. When not working with Schools or out and about at events, I enjoy welcoming individuals or small groups to our stunning hillside venue to have a go at the activities.

I have been involved in orienteering for 25 years, have taken part in competitions, and have even organised a few! Having access to enough land to create an orienteering course of my own is a dream come true.

Where you'll be

Roundhill Barn is somewhere truly special. 180 acres of sloping hill farm and woodland, just outside Bath - rising to the 218m summit of Kelston Roundhll.

Although there is public access to the summit itself, the rest of the farm is private land, which is usually closed to the public. While enjoying orienteering, there's also the opportunity to enjoy views that are normally out of bounds, and discover the native wildlife.

Dan’s orienteering course was good fun and is set in a beautiful location with stunning views. A good 1.5 hours of activity out in the fresh air. We really enjoyed it.
