About your host

As co-owner of my Certified Organic Farm in Hastings County, I have a "lifetime" of passion towards sustainability and ethical farming activities. Come meet our heritage breed animals and learn why we chose these breeds, why they are suited to our style of farming, and the goals and ambitions that we have as a fully certified organic farm that practices permaculture and soil rehabilitation. What we’ll do

Meet me at the farmhouse where we will take a quick tour of the gardens and greenhouse that supply all the fresh vegetables and plant starts we sell at local markets. We will then head over to the barnyard where we will meet the cats who keep the rodent population under control, and any livestock being housed there during winter months or when they are about to give birth. We will head to the pig…

What else you should know

It can be muddy so please wear proper boots. Dress appropriate for the weather. You will only be allowed in livestock areas with a farm manager, as safety is our #1 concern. We will ensure you have a fun and educational visit on the farm while learning about day to day goings on of our place.

What I’ll provide

Coffee, Tea and Water
Optional warm drinks in the house after the tour in winter, and cold refreshments for warmer months will be provided during the tour.
Photography
Have your photo taken beside a furry Highland Cow or holding a chicken! The choice is yours!

What to bring

Sunglasses
Sunscreen
Insect repellent
Hat
Warm outdoor clothing
Proper footwear for mud/snow/long grass

Where you'll be

Our farm is the main site for this experience, and we are only 1 of 3 Certified Organic Meat Farms in the entire Hastings/Lennox-Addington and Quinte counties! Many farms are switching to pastured based systems, but not many raise the type of livestock we do, or have certification in this field.
