What you'll do

This street art walk in the center of La Paz lasts for roughly an hour and a half.
I invite you to discover over 15 murals painted by a variety of artists from the four corners of Mexico.
Each mural carries its own thematic story of La Paz as diverse as the artists that paint them ; the fishermen of the bay, the rancheros of the desert, the cave paintings of the first Indians and the challenges of ocean conservation.
True reflections of the local culture, these murals provide the viewer deep access to the culture of The Baja.

French journalist, anthropologist and sailor, I first arrived in La Paz 10 years ago. I collect mythological stories, sea legends, but also true facts about fishermen and local heroes with the courage to rethink their life around sustainability and conservation.
I discovered Colectivo Tomato in 2017 when they invited 25 talented artists to paint the stories of the community on the walls of their city. For me, this project was a revelation. The filter of art brought sincerity and emotion to these stories. Now I can’t help it : I have to share them.

Where you'll be

This tour starts on the malecon, in front of Harker restaurant and goes up towards downtown where we will discover the first murals impulsed by the gallery Tamal in 2013. We will then follow the quirky sidewalks of the center to arrive at the parking of La Perla, where are concentrated most of the murals of the project Colectivo Tomate (2017). We finish with the beautiful Magic Coyote from Uli Martinez, next to the Sushi Longer on the malecon.

Amelie was an excellent guide and storyteller as she led us through the streets of La Paz and brought the many vibrant murals to life. What a joy to be able to view them through the eyes of a knowledgeable local who understands the stories behind each one and points out many details we would have missed entirely.
